Dear book-loving people,
Over the long weekend, I went to Milwaukee and had the pleasure of meeting book blogger/Publisher's Weekly editor Barbara Vey. I'm passing along her contact information because she is looking for readers willing to read some of the many books she acquires and write short (4 sentences) blurbs about them for her website. She especially needs erotica readers. If you read my book, Beltane, and enjoyed it (or books like it), please get in touch with her. She'll give you the books for free; all she asks is that you pay the shipping.

Thanks for the info...
Hey, you live in WI?
woot...I know why I like ya...
Sorry to disappoint you, but I don't actually live in Wisconsin. I do live in the Midwest, but I was just visiting the cheesehead state.
Thanks for this information.
I thought of my husband Larry right away. Because he is not currently employed we couldn't swing the shipping costs. Thank you for the offer.
great information...thanks
It's a nice offer, but most reviewers get books shipped directly to them, and don't have to pay shipping.
That's true, Christine. Professional reviewers get books directly from the publishers and get paid instead of having to pay. Barbara isn't looking for professional reviewers. She does the blog without compensation other than books publishers and writers give her, sheerly out of love of books and sharing the reading experience with others. She gets a kick out of it. So, she's willing to share her book swag with average people who simply like to read and are willing to give their brief, but honest, opinions and tell what the book meant to them. Obviously, there are no shipping costs if the book you choose from her collection is an e-book. If you choose a paperback or hardcover, though, she does ask you to pay the shipping just so that her shipping costs don't get so overwhelming she has to discontinue her blog.
I would if I didn't have to pay shipping. Although I would want to do a full review as well, not just a blurb.
Oh, I get that, but that's what Amazon.com is for!
Paying the shipping costs does put one off. If it weren't for that, she would get reviewers.
If she offered some type of deal, people might be able to swing it.
Say, if you order two books, you don't pay shipping. But, if you order three or more, then shipping has to be paid. I think that may lessen the burden somewhat for such a bad economy.
Don't forget, though, you could choose to read e-books instead of paperbacks, and then the shipping factor doesn't come into play. It's a good deal for e-book readers.
