Utah Employer Praises E-Verify, Says Using it Helps His Business
A Utah employer who uses E-Verify spoke out in support of the program last week, saying that customers called him because he advertised that he participates in the program. Larry Morrison of St. George, Utah - owner of Morrison Insulation LLC - told a city council forum that his company "gets 'two jobs a week' just by advertising that it uses E-Verify to check its employees' work status," and argued that "more businesses should use the system." (The Spectrum, April 30, 2009). The fact that small businesses see a public relations benefit through the use of E-Verify undermines the claims of big-business, special- interest groups that argue that the work eligibility verification system places a burden on businesses.
Mr. Morrison's comments came less than two weeks after the Obama Administration announced its decision to yet again delay a rule that would require most federal contractors to use E-Verify. This announcement was the second time the administration delayed the rule's implementation. (See FAIR's Legislative Update, April 20, 2009). The rule was originally set to take effect in January, but the Bush Administration caved to a coalition of special interest groups - including the Chamber of Commerce - who sued to stop the rule from taking effect as scheduled. (See FAIR's Legislative Update, January 12, 2009).
The Chamber, which claims to be the "voice of business" on its website, has said in its online magazine that requiring federal contractors to use E-Verify "would have made it more difficult for employers to hire new workers and keep existing ones." (U.S. Chamber Magazine, March 2009). As a real business owner, Mr. Morrison's recent statement that his company "gets 'two jobs a week' just by advertising that it uses E-Verify" and his recommendation that "more businesses should use the system" both seem to conflict with the Chamber's position. (The Spectrum, April 30, 2009).
Recent efforts to pass a long-term reauthorization of the E-Verify have fallen short in Congress, leaving the program vulnerable to the administration and certain Members of Congress using it as a bargaining chip in attempts to pass amnesty for illegal aliens. During conference committee negotiations on the economic stimulus bill in February, Congressional leadership stripped two E-Verify related amendments from the final version of the legislation signed into law by President Obama. (See FAIR's Legislative Update, February 17, 2009). One of these amendments, sponsored by Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA), would have reauthorized E-Verify for four years. (See FAIR's Legislative Update, January 26, 2009). Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) later attempted to attach an amendment reauthorizing E-Verify for six years to the Omnibus Appropriations stopgap funding measure that the Senate debated in March, but that effort was shot down on a 50 - 47 vote. (Roll Call Vote, March 10, 2009).

Why did this article get flagged as spam? Seems like someone got a little trigger happy, and flagged without actually reading it.
I am perplexed by the Chamber's comments. How can requiring E-Verify make it harder to find new employees or keep old ones? Unless, of course, they are referring to those brand new illegals, and the ones already on the payroll. lol
You're right Vicki. The "Want To Increase Business ?" title does sound spammish, but the Gather person who flagged it as spam dropped the ball. ERROR gather. Please read the article. It is a copy & paste from the FAIR website regarding E-Verify and how some business owners are finding that it is increasing their business.
This has nothing to do with advertising. Perhaps I should have used the word "endorse" or "praise".
For the last year or so I have continually used the momentum of public opinion, to keep the Federal E-Verify computer program in the spotlight. Everyday my commentary never ceases in promoting this tool, even though the disagreement from the Un-American US Chamber of Commerce, American Civil Liberties Union have attacked the applications capability, that uproots the illegal labor from the majority of the honest business communities. These groups have used an inexhaustible supply of propaganda. It's sudden and growing appeal nationwide is constantly been publicized is difficult to use, to many errors and it racially profiles the majority of US labor. Hopefully my small contribution has inspired many more bloggers to uncover the deliberate deception of E-Verify to the general public I think that the politicians have finally realized, that E-Verify must be made a--PERMANENT--addition to the Homeland Security arsenal. Even Napolitano of HS has had second thoughts and now supporting its installation. The usual pro-parasite business politicians now are aware the public are scrutinizing their every move.
With the WW web available to everybody, can no longer slip secret negotiations past--THE PEOPLE--including the re-engineering of another devious AMNESTY. The AGJOB ACT is misleading, it’s being rehashed again to try and pass it again giving a path to citizenship to farm workers. The only serious problem attached to this is--CHAIN MIGRATION. Family reunification that is going to cost billions more dollars in support by Americans. In addition the millions who are legalized can then leave agriculture, for a better jobs and cost even more dollars for people that have not been educated, that will remain on the lower rung of the hiring ladder.
E-Verify is an instant deterrent as it removes illegal labor from the workplace, opening opportunities for Americas less skilled. The corruptness of lawmakers spend more time trying to overthrow worthwhile immigration laws like the 1986 Immigration control and Reform act, to notify us the law is broken. When in truth it's never been enforced. The 1986 law was overwhelmed with fraud and now we have more illegal immigrants, with a cesspool of criminals who are either locked up, or still walking the streets causing mayhem. Needless to say why taxpayers should supplement the income of illegal aliens, pay for incarceration, when the businesses that hire them walk away from any commitment to their health care, education and anything else. Taxpayers have been forced by government mandates to carry the burden for known subsidies and those carefully concealed by the conspiracy in Washington. Good post Dave F. I'd like to add that in addition to E-Verify, and enforcement of IRCA (hopefully with more eradication of document fraud), we also need enforcement of the law regarding the misuse (stealing) of Social Security #s. This is a felony crime, and those illegal aliens who engage in it should not only be discovered by E-Verify and denied the jobs they applied for. They should also be arrested and imprisoned, in prisons where they would not be popular among the other inmates.
A good stretch there with hard labor ought to do something to discourage this carefree attitude that they seem to have, that they can take your Social Security # and do whatever they like with it.
