This is a combo update since I've not been around much and have been working on these next few steps rather slowly.
On Thursday I measured Gideon... and boy was that an ordeal. Between him moving and such it was something that took longer than I thought it would, LOL.
When it was all said and done I was left with what looked like a crime scene chalk outline of the squirmy little guy. ROFLOL. This will be my guide for cutting the fabric and sewing it up.
Where's Gideon? He thought this was hilarious, but hey! It's a fast way to see sizing at a glance for the fabric. That's 2 1/2 yards there... just enough. :)

Then I started to think... crap... this fabric isn't wide enough to work the same on me since my arms are longer than Gideon's and his just touch the sides of the fabric. This meant looking for another way to make mine. :(
I'll probably use this one here for mine. I'm 5' 7" so the measurements won't be too far off this one which is for someone 5' 5".

I started on Crookshanks. Remember that pile 'o cat parts? That giant pile? All these parts...

Yeah, well imagine my surprise when I saw that big pile yielded a cat head THIS size..
The front.

The side.

OMG LOL Who shrunk Crookshanks?!
And today something came addressed to Gideon in care of me. I looked closer and I knew exactly what it was. Gideon, however didn't know as I didn't tell him it was coming.. I wanted it to be a surprise.
It was our patches! Woohoo!

The very same ones the HP kids have. :D

There won't be any work done Monday since Gideon's home, but Tuesday things should once again move forward. :)

It's great to see that things are coming together. I can't wait to see your finished costumes!
Slowly but surely they are. I can't wait either. :P
Looks like you took on a big job! The costumes are going to look great!
A huge one, Edna. They have to be DONE and ready to wear July 11!
Hopefully they will. I'll make sure they do - even if it means no sleep. Hahaha. Hopefully it won't come to that, though!
can't wait to see the finished costumes...if you want to make a bigger cat you could always just enlarge the pattern pieces on a copy machine, I have done that before to keep everything in proportion
Michelle, I've enlarged on the PC before through I think windows picture viewer. I don't have a printer so I trace my patterns off the pc monitor.
The thing is I don't have any more fur and I can't buy it anywhere around here. It's an hour drive to the store that I got this fur at. (Walmart has packs of white and black fur - I have some of that here, too but the cat is an orang-y tan color. :()
I'll just have a baby cat. LOL
I would not have the patience to do this!!
Donna, it is taking a lot of time and mental work to do it as cheap as possible. The math darn near killed me. LOL
Can't wait to see them finished!!
We can't either. I have about seven weeks left to finish them in. Getting closer LOL
This is cool! I am not sure that I would have the patience! LOL
It does take a lot of time to do, but it's fun stuff... so long as the math doesn't make my head asplode. :P
how cool!!
Thanks
