GOOD FRIDAY MORNING GATHER FRIENDS
This morning we will be leaving by car for the Daytona area of Florida and a mini Memorial Day vacation.
We are staying with friends and they have wireless, so I will be on line intermittently. The roads are paved with thunderstorms and very heavy rains. In the event of flash flooding, amongst our vacation wardrobe and obligatory electronic gear, I have loaded a rubber raft and bed sheet for a sail.
Please forgive me if I fall behind in commenting. I will try, though probably with limited success. Perhaps a grand story that I can share with you will come together on the trip

One of my dear close gather friends, Diana D lives there and they have gotten 24 inches of rain this week!! They aren't leaving the house due to flooding of the local roads. I hope you have a good time but.........

Be safe and come home safe. This is the weekend I honor my father's sacrifice in 1944. So many no longer care, but I can't forget because I was 4 when my father was KIA on Leyte, Philippines. My mother was a widow for 52 years and died in 1997.
I work now for remembrance of the Japanese Internment Camps and the inequities heaped on those American citizens. I visited Manzanaar Camp in the desert of CA/NV near Lone Pine, CA. Once our country went against the Constitution out of fear, now we are choosing to do it again by holding those called detainees when they have had no case brought against them. Only rememberance will keep us from repeating our past mistakes.
Never mind us! Just go and have fun!

Just take the mini vacation and keep your fingers OFF the plastic (keyboard), david, before the wife pinches the flying fingers,lol. the boat and sails might be a GOOD idea,lol. We have had 4 hours of drying today, but more rain on the way. watch out for those OTHER drivers on wet road,ok? Be safe, have fun!

I'm jealous David. I haven't been on even a mini vacation in more than 10 years. I have been absent from gather myself. And so stressed I haven't been writing much. How is it I forget so easily what a cathartic experience reading on gather and writing are for me.
