Apparently you -can- take too many pictures (May 19, 2009)

Last week, I took pictures -- lots and lots of pictures -- of our trip up to Atlantic City, and then proceeded to try to post them to Gather. I managed to get them posted, and went back to start adding groups... and apparently managed to crash my Gather account. I wasn't even aware that was a possibility -- but suffice to say, that's one reason I did absolutely nothing of value this weekend, because I was unable to access the site all weekend because my account had to be disabled to fix the problem. And I still have about 350 pictures that need to be added to groups...

So, yeah. Wow.

On the upside of things, I've started relocating books into the shed -- partially voluntarily, and partially because when she observed me doing it, my mother-in-law decided to contribute the rest of the books in the house she'd been considering pitching - as long as I took care of it right-right-this-weekend. I have none of them categorized or ready to sell yet, of course, and there are a number of books that are likely to become Save This Book candidates - free to whoever might want them - because they're too damaged (missing a front cover, for instance).

I've obviously got a lot of things to catch up on -- not least of which is that I have two columns to write sometime within the next two weeks, a number of features to post, groups to moderate, and those images to map to groups -- and all the while hoping that whatever went wrong with Gather doesn't go wrong again. So, yeah, if I disappear again sometime this week, something else broke, I'm not actually gone. ::grins::

Just out of curiosity, if someone were to offer you your choice of a free book of one overall category, but you didn't get to choose the title, what type of book would you want? I might start running Save This Book events again soon even if I didn't get the books all categorized and salable, just to clear a little bit of space and get used to shipping things out again, and there's nothing like free stuff to bring happiness to people.
