This is the final professional photo taken of Joan, in 1976. She had some disease that slowly wasted her away. She had stopped drinking and smoking by 1975, and had become a Christian Science fanatic (that's why we don't know what illness she had, she wouldn't go to the doctor).
She turned down a part in Airport 77, where an airplane turns into a submarine. Olivia De Havilland played her part. How would Joan have looked with wet hair ??? !!!
Joan would have been offered the part of Ma Kent in the Christopher Reeves version of Superman.
On October 28, 1976 Joan signed her will. Most the money went to the charities she had worked for - the Heart Association, the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Cancer Society, the Motion Picture County House and Hospital, the USO, and the Wiltwyck School for Boys in NYC.
Joan died May 10, 1977. She had two friends with her in her apartment.

(she lied about her age so much she confuses me)
Joan would have looked just as classy with wet hair as with dry hair!! When you've got class it does not matter..........wet of dry!!!!
"wet or dry!!!!"
Great eyelashes on Joanie.
I concur, she looks amazing for over seventy, and whatta cute pup.
Blessings and best wishes - S.
