My husband had oral surgery today!

He's had a tooth that has been bothering him on and off for two years.  He has had appointments in the past to get the tooth removed, but he always ended up canceling--either it stopped bothering him or he felt we didn't really have the money (the surgeon requires full payment at time of service, unlike our dentist who will let us make payments).  Last week, he woke up in alot of pain.  His whole face was swollen from the abcess.  He was able to get in this morning and have the tooth surgically removed.  It took less than 5 minutes, and he didn't feel a thing.

The most painful part was paying the $260  :)

Now, he's at home recouperating with a prescription for the pain and a prescription for the infection.  I haven't had oral surgery in years, and I'm happy my teeth are in pretty good shape right now.  We're making it a priority to make sure our little one brushes his teeth and gets cleanings regularly!

only 250 did you have insurance or is your dentist really that inexpensive ?

Ouch! I hope your hubby feels better soon....and don't let him stop taking the pain pills too soon either. MIne did when he had his wisdom teeth pulled...and he wasn't the only one that regretted it.

Dentists are sooo expensive. Without insurance, it is really difficult unless they will let you make payments. I hope your hubby is feeling better soon...:)

My daughter, who has no insurance, recently had to get a root canal and cap for well over $2000. So, its good to take care of your teeth to prevent problems because repairing teeth is really expensive. I had a cap come off about a week ago and the dentist charged $91 just to glue it back on and it took him less than 5 minutes.

He sounds like my husband by continually putting it off. He finally went in, and then kept having problems. Eventually he went to a new dentist, and come to find out, his "childhood" dentist had royally messed up. He has to have a root canal now, and I'm definitely not looking forward to paying our out-of-pocket expenses.

I'm glad he got it taken care of. Abcesses can be very painful. I know!
