Saturday morning did not start out with the best of weather, but we expected that. Stephanie was up by 5, emailed me and then promptly went back to bed. I read the email, thought she was motivating so I started to get ready, shower, pack clothes, shave the fuzzy legs and pack some snacks for the day. Then I noticed nothing more from Stephanie, interesting I thought. I putzed around and finally about 9 she emailed me again that she was up and moving finally. Too funny as the plan was to leave early so we could get a good spot at in the upper stage area.
Stephanie and Dylan finally showed up about 10 or was it 11, and we packed or actually shoved my things in the car (it was packed to the brim) and headed out. Only we didn't get very far because we found a garage sale! Yep you heard me right, a garage sale with a very nice looking 3 room tent set up and calling her name! 1 trip to th
e grocery store to use the ATM and $50 bucks later Sheph had a new slightly used tent that she would pick up on Sunday on her way home. Now we were really on our way!
When we got downtown we went to the Ren Cen and checked into the Marriott hotel dropped off our stuff and headed over to the Plaza.
On our walk over it of course started to rain, yippie and guess what? You cannot take umbella's in, along with strollers or wagons or water bottles! So we walked back to the parking garage, unloaded again and went back to the plaza....that's when we learned we couldn't take "ANY SNACKS OF ANY KIND INCLUDING THE WATER BOTTLES". Guess we should have asked that the first time. So Steph took the junk back to the car and Dylan waited with me on the water front. It was a pretty place for pictures and of course I had to take a few. This is one of the old Bob-Lo Island Boats that is now
converted to a Cruise type boats with dinner shows and events. Thank goodness they managed to save at least one of the boats, it's a part of Detroit History. Bob-Lo Island was an amusement park that finally closed up in the 80's. The only way to get to the park was on one of these boats, they where so much fun!

The sun decided to come out after about 2 hours of rain, thank goodness. Is it not better looking in the sun?
That's the Ambassador bridge in the back behind the boat and Canada over to the right!

The nice casino they have over there. I had not realized how big it has gotten. Canada's always been a fun place to go on a summer's day. We celebrate with them our Independence day and their Independence day but I can't remember what they call it. We have tug-a-wars across the river, fireworks and tug boat races! That is during the International Freedom Festival and that's another story completely.
I can not remember all the band we saw but I do remember this one, and I highly recommend them. They are soo funny and good. They have a very funny video out right now and I will see if I can get it from Utube or one of those sites. The name of the band ~ Trailer Choir! It would have been

worth going downtown just for them. They put on a good show. I would even pay to see them, thats how good they are.
So as not to bore you too much this will be the end of Chapter one.
