Cross-training simply means doing exercises that alternately work the left (verbal memory and logic) and right (visual memory) sides of the brain, thereby boosting mental agility over time. For a fun cognitive workout test your skill sets with some good old-fashioned crossword puzzles, Sudoku, or by challenging friends to a Scrabble match.
Try something newNeuroscientist believe that the brain is like any other muscle: The more you use it, the more you can use it. In fact lack of learning causes the brain's pathways to start disconnecting. So everyone take 15 minutes out of each day to learn something new. Have you always wanted to learn a foreign language? Take time to master a few words of Spanish each day. Interested in ethnic cooking? Sign up for a course at a local culinary school today.

Gather does it for me. I have learned so many things and I have also ran into some brain-teasers articles in my time here. I have to say that my brain as well as my eyes has been opened on certain subjects by Gather. Not to mention all you nice friends and connections I've encountered.

I love games and I'm glad they help keep my mind from decaying.
You are absolutely right. I love mind games and puzzles. And truthfully I feel better and more clear whenever I do those types of things or challenge myself. I spend quite a bit of time thinking through problems before acting on them. Thanks for the info. PIF
