They said it couldn’t be done. They snickered and sneered behind her back…
My daughter, Brooke, dropped out of high school and took her GED. She got pregnant and delivered twin girls when she was still a child herself (19). When she talked about going back to school some of her family (yes, family) and friends (are they really friends) said she wouldn’t do it. Some said she couldn’t do it. Many thought she would not make it. And still others are standing in awe of what she is doing.
Brooke is determined to be a Nurse. She has almost completed her first year of nursing school. Currently, she is doing clinicals in Florida. Brooke has made all A’s. At one point, she had B averages in some of her classes, at which point she told me and her aunt that a B wasn’t good enough. She has since brought the Bs up to As.
Brooke has been maintaining the A average in all her classes in addition to being a mother to the twins. We do provide her with help occasionally on the weekends for a “break”. But she is the one who provides the twins with a home, gets them up daily and gets them to daycare before going to school herself. She is the one providing for her own and the twins day to day needs. And she’s doing all that while still making her dream of becoming a Nurse come true.
Not only is she my incredible student, but she is my incredible daughter and an incredible mother. I am very proud of Brooke…

Frugal Mom ~ She is very determined and high spirited. She also knows what she wants from life and is prepared to work to get it. I think that's important.
Kay ~ Thank you, Tommy, Dez, & Ryan for being there for her and being supportive. You guys have done a lot for her and I know she appreciates it....I certainly do. Thanks for encouraging her too. It means a lot.
Ann ~ Thank you. I'm glad she isn't the type of person that allows another person's negativity to bring her down. It is a shame that more people can not be positive and happy for others. You're right, it would be a far different world.
Renee ~ Thank you.
Bridget ~ I do, indeed :)

I finished nursing school a year ago, while going through my 2nd divorce and caring for 3 kids. I also had some help from family, which made a huge difference.
Brooke -- you can do this! You will LOVE nursing, and the stability it allows you to provide for your children.
Jodie, congratulations to you! That is awesome. I am glad you chose nursing too. It does provide stability and there are so many different avenues you can take.

Jennifer, thank you. You can do it too and are right about having the will to do it. I was 17 when I had Brooke and I went to nursing school when she was very young. It can be done :)
It is wonderful to have dreams and know what you want to be at that age. Incredible kid for sure. Good luck in the contest.
Isn't it, Connie? At first she wasn't sure this is what she wanted to do, but then she decided it was...so, here we are. Thanks!
Hats off to both of you. All A's is not a neccesity. Nursing school can be very difficult.
Leo, no they aren't a neccesity...but she has set those standards for herself and wants to meet them. Nursing school is difficult, as she is finding out. She's in clinicals now and it can be very stressful. Thanks so much for dropping by.
