Several weeks ago, forgive me, I'll have to look it up, I was stimulated by a piece submitted by Marco Arment [ Arment is the lead developer for Tumblr and the creator of Instapaper ] and- It's not an argument per se, simply a response. I was moved, motivated, and started to research. Have you ever seen Venn Diagrams ? It's related to that. There was Marco's vision, and mine and then there was that curious ground between the two.
I started doing the research, the leg work. People in general, and Gather© readers in particular are interested in more than vision, no matter how pure. They want to see the facts beneath the surface, That which transpires beyond that which appears.
As I recall, Marco was speaking of both contemporary operating systems, I think it fair to say at the moment there are three ( Windows & DOS 9, There's a debate about that ) OS X1, and a myriad of variations on UNIX- plus the devices upon which these operating systems run from the desktops and workstations, through the laptops including the desktop replacements, and down to the personal communication devices such as the iPhone, the iTouch, the Blackberries, and a plethora of cell phones ...
It was my feeling that he was overlooking a device or two, the bookreaders for example, but I understand, and I'll get to that when I begin to write. At this point I merely wanted to set the stage, set the record straight, and apologize in advance for taking so long on this project. I mentioned it, in passing to more than a few and I wanted to address the delays.
