WASHINGTON -- Speaking on a Supplemental Appropriations bill that would continue to fund the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today made the following statement:
"America went to war against Iraq based on a lie. We were told back in 2002 that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. The previous administration even pursued torture to try to extract false confessions in order to justify the war. It is time to tell the truth. The truth is we should not have prosecuted a war against the Iraqi people. The truth is the Democratic Senate could have stopped the Iraq war in 2002. The truth is we Democrats were given control of Congress in 2006 to end the war. The truth is this bill continues a disastrous war, which has cost the lives of thousands of our soldiers. The truth is the occupation has fueled the insurgency. The truth is the Iraq war will cost the American and the Iraqi people trillions of dollars and as many as a million innocent Iraqis have lost their lives as a result of this war."Don't tell the American people that you are ending the war by continuing to fund the war. Don't tell the American people that the war will end when their plans leave 50, 000 troops in Iraq. Don't tell the American people that the way out of Afghanistan is to escalate our presence.
"Get out of Iraq. Get out Afghanistan. Come home America."

Its none of your business or mine or the U.S. how other countries want to be lead. Empire building and war profiteering is illegal by American federal law.
But that, as they say, is HISTORY. It’s sort of like WWI, it doesn’t matter who started the war or for what lame reason the war started, by the time the United States entered the war it was a completely different war. Iraq is a completely different war. Iraq is now a matter of how we get the young nation to stand on its own; given two neighbors who aren’t always the “best of friends” with the community at large.
Afghanistan is different. That’s Obama’s war, just like Iraq was Bush’s war. At least the people can’t complained Obama lied to them as he did with things like earmarks and taxes, his support for this war was clear from the primary debates. Not that anyone wanted to listen because they all believed their messiah would pull out of all wars everywhere.
It's not about terrorists. We supported bin-Laden, the Taliban and even Saddam Hussein (we even increased funding to his regime after he gassed his own people). Do you think it's just a coincidence that Iraq just happens to hold the world's second largest oil reserves? Is it just a coincidence that Afghanistan has been the focus of our objective of building a pipeline for Caspian oil to a warm water port ever since the Taliban visited Gov. Geo. Bush in Texas?
And... The Taliban didn't do 9/11. The idea that we need to attack Afghanistan because bin-Laden was once there is about as crazy as Great Britain attacking Detroit because there were al-Qaeda cells there.
And if I may answer for Jack... yes we do have a humanitarian obligation to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. We can get out and stop dispensing depleted uranium weapons which will leave the next 1,000 generations of people in those countries with cancers and birth defects.
In all this time, we've created far more terrorists than we've killed in both of these countries. We brought civil war to Iraq, and we installed a UNOCAL consultant to run Afghanistan. We haven't done much else except spend blood and money.
Yes it was about blood for oil. Oil and geopolitical positioning.
“I am saddened that it is politically inconvenient to acknowledge what everyone knows: the Iraq war is largely about oil.” – Alan Greenspan
This wasn't Bush's vendetta or one-up on his father. This goes back to 1992 when Cheney (in Bush 41 administration) had Wolfowitz draw up the plan that was adopted by the Project for the New American Century for world domination. Check the details. The PNAC wrote all about this in public documents (that many Bush administration officials signed onto) and named Iraq.
The Project for the New American Century
Yeah, our government isn't always so great. It's time to admit it, and do something about it - like reform.
and why do we need to be involved in military action and invasions and occupations where the propaganda tells us they're (our soldiers) are "fighting for our freedom?" When they clearly not. Yeah, it's all about our interests, not good vs. evil as it is portrayed. Problem is our lack of foresight makes these attempts to control other countries destinies to our benefit comes back to smack us in the face.
Time to stop shooting ourselves in the foot. Time to stop living the fantasy, and at the very least admit what we have done and are doing without the propaganda story line.
You could help your flag waving cause by joining up to fight the good fight for corporate hacks and traitors like Bush but before you go rhonda be sure to check under your bushes for any pesky terrorists that may whisk your children into fantasyland.
We have not invaded a terrorist nation yet or we would already be in control of Saudi Arabia or as most people call it now the House Of Bush. The 9/11 attackers Bush hired were from Saudi Arabia not Afghanistan and Pakistan. insurrection is a dangerous game rhonda so before you start playing you may want to decide if the outcome is worth it, your bigotry against other races is just what the Bush gang needs to succeed.
We go about our daily lives totally forgetting that we are at war and that our young are being maimed and committing suicide and dying for----nothing? Shame on us. We must all speak up.

Just how many governments have al-Qaeda overthrown? How many have the United States overthrown?
To most of the world, we are a greater threat, and represent greater evil, than those of Islam you refer to. The world sees us as an obnoxious bully and meddler in affairs of a long list of sovereign countries. Our 800+ military bases and history of overthrowing governments and supporting dictators who oppress those who resent it are the mechanism of our own downfall. The irony is that very few Americans could even come close to guessing how many military bases we have, how much we spend for "defense" or even name any countries we've overthrown.
rhonda why don't you join up to fight the good fight? Obama will use you and slap you aside like he does with the rest of the fools that he brainwashes into fighting his corporate wars.
rhonda attack dog posts are deleted and if you make any more posts like this one you will not make any more on my threads again.
