On May 3rd, my brother Nelson suffered a stroke in the brainstem.
He never recovered.
Today, he died.
We grew up together and were as close as two brothers could be.
The memories are many.
I am very lucky to have had Nelson for a brother.
In fact, I thank God for it.
My heart is broken and I am crushed.
After Nelson suffered his stroke, I wrote about it here on Gather.
I wrote an update a few days later.
There were so many kind words, thoughts and actions from you, my Gather friends.
This is truly my home away from home.
Thank you for being there.
In the last seventeen months, I have lost my father, mother, and now my brother.
It is too much to take, but I have to take it.
There is a reason for everything.
One day, we will all be together in a better place and we will cherish one another even
more.
I love you Nelson.
Take care and tell mom and dad I love and miss them.

I know the tremendous loss you are feeling; my husband unexpectedly lost his mom in Oct, his sister (49) in Dec, and his dad just 2 days after our baby's birth, in Feb. The shock is terrible, but I do know that those who pass before us all go to a much better place, with no suffering or pain.
As a very wise person once told me, "Mourn not the absence of the flame, but rather celebrate how brightly it glowed"

There is nothing like friends in both good and bad times.
My brother died way too young.
There is a better place waiting us all.
My brother just beat me there.
Nelson always got to places before I did.
But he always waited for me.
One day, we will be together again.
No words can possibly help the way you feel right now.

I wish that I could take your hurt away.........it just seems, sometimes, that we have to handle more than what we think we can bear, but please know......and it even says so in the Bible.....that God never gives us more than we can handle.....although there have been several times I would have challenged that.

At the same time, my sister-in-law is dying.....she has brain cancer, which has gone into her spinal column......she's been told she's already outlived her prognosis and is now living on "borrowed time." So, we've been dealing with this....it's so difficult, it's so emotionally draining.
Please, my friend, take care of yourself.......make sure you eat, make sure you sleep......at times like this we tend to forget about taking care of our own selves......I don't want you getting down and getting sick.

Unfortunately, words never comfort like they should when given as a way to take pain away from losing a loved one. I'll still say "my thoughts are with you" anyway, even though they don't help one iota of what you're going through.
My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss.
i am so sorry for you george....so much in such a short time.....as i type i have a dear friend standing by his brothers side, hoping for the best but expecting the worst..... my God keep you in the palm of His hand and give you comfort......

i am sorry for your loss, i too lost my father 5.5 years ago (he was 40)..there isnt a day that passes that i dont think of him..i miss him very much but it does get easier as time goes by...you are in my thoughts as you go thru this journey..

You brother Nelson died so young. One can never recover from such loss. But he and your late dad and mum are toghether now, and they think of you, thus you are with them.
