Why is one of my photos marked as "spam?" Any ideas??

I posted a photo of a pocket watch on the 13th to enter it in the Snap Happy Photo Contest.  It shows I updated it on the 16th when I made a comment.  What could I have done to cause this to be flagged as spam??  I wondered if being one of the winners of the contest and a link being in the post announcing the winners may have caused it, but no one elses' has been flagged.  Any ideas???

I can tell you why cause there are jerks and im sure someone who is on your friends list that thinks its funny to spam you..it happened to me yestersay and not one not 2 but three thingss of mine were listed as spam and its pretty sickning if you as me...

oh and I know it was someone on my friends list cause she wrote on the post before she spammed me and told me it was spam she is no longer a friend of mine and was only a friend for less them one week
That is so silly. I'm sorry this is going on and you've become the latest victim. I just can't stand all this 'policing' that goes on. People flag and it seems lately like it's just because they can, not because they have a real reason to. I'm really sorry this has happened to you.

People aren't paying much attention to the low raters anymore cause they are still getting us points. So now they are flagging people. Gather needs to take control of their site. Don't let it bother you, it will be removed by gather.

I've never flagged anyone, so I don't know, C.L.R., but I have BEEN flagged.... usually within a day, the flag was taken off by gather team without me having to do anything.

What does flagged mean? I don't know. Where do you see it? DB1 is gone maybe? Now flagging started?

I can't figure out why that picture was flagged. It's a lovely picture. People are really becoming rude on here. It's sad that someone would do that!

Gul, if you click on the post that has been flagged it is in big red writing at the top--you can't miss it. I only saw it because of checking on it for winning the contest:) LOL or I would not have known.

FYI - I am closing down an older group of mine dealing with copyright infringement (fairuseabuse.gather.com) and opening a new group (tos.gather.com) dealing with ALL aspects of the Terms of Service (TOS). There will be ongoing weekly discussions in the group dealing with issues and concerns, and you can post links to your content asking for member input. Hopefully it proves to be an educational experience.

I found it. Your photo can be viewed HERE.

There is no reason for your image to be flagged. Therefore, it was either an accident or malicious. Gather should remove the flag early next week.

I was flagged once, everyone that had came to talk checked it over and over and found no reason , nothing wrong said. Actually most of us telling someone we were sorry her grandparent had just passed away. But within three hours Gather had the flag removed.

I'm sorry this happened to you. This is not a new practice. People have done this as long as I have been on Gather!

Gosh what a low thing to do, marking your picture as spam ,do you have any idea who was so rude to have done this . I heard about this kind of thing from Charity yesterday as her stuff was marked as well . I sure hope this kind of thing stops , its hurting to many feelings . I hope Karma takes a big chunk out of there butts for this!

Amy, that is what I hear. They will get notified thru the flagging of the post and check it out. Some people have told me they will just take it off if there is no problem or notify me if I did something wrong.

This is just crazy. Seems like someone or some ones need to seek help. I mean honestly, why mark other people's stuff as spam when it clearly isn't.

Some people get entertainment out of doing this. I wouldn't worry about it. YOu did nothing wrong and I'm sure Gather can see that.

How dare you take a picture of a watch!

The flag is gone now. It should have never been there, as far as I can tell. Winning a contest usually makes you a target for people who don't like other people to win.

LOL, Alex!! As my grandmother always said, "The nerve of some people's brats." How could I take a photo of a watch???!!!

Maybe it was winning--I am not the best of photographers, but I like to join in anyways.

I am glad the flag is gone now. I am new to gather, so I, of course, know nothing about what is spam, but I have seen alot of people post alot of photos so it would seem fine to me.
