His credenza was covered with over a half-ream of statistics gathered meticulously over the past four and a half weeks. First time page views, returning visitors, addicts, unique visitors, click-throughs, both foreign & domestic. The results were both compelling and crystal clear. Content was, queen. He had to write again, and quickly. As he slipped into the shower, however, the question foremost on his mind, resounded. " About what," He muttered almost to himself as the steaming hot needles pulsated against his skin.
Some of the so-called facts were both baffling and confussing to be certain. His article on Regis & Kelly, Googlng live on National Network Television had finally met and surpassed that submission on having a Heart Attack. " Thank God," He mumbled as he applied his favorite bodywash and began to rinse. And there, at number three, was his personnal favorite, an extremely serious outline of a novel, a triology to be frank, bordering on romantique fantasy but filled with ontology and near-mystical allusion. " Perhaps he had gone too far with that one, " He mused as he began to towel dry.
The bulk of his eighty-two submissions fell into three catagories1, to be sure. Stellar, to his thinking anyway, any submission having over three-times-average readership and performance. Solid, Those posts with what he had come to think of as 'Benchmark' readership and performance. And Typical. He chose to let go of any and all attachments to those which fell beneath these, but in those moments of total honesty he admitted, at least to himself, this was probably another or fourth class of writing altogether.
