Come back, my child with flaxen hair
From the ravages of hell-- despair
Will leave you when you cast it out.
Forgive yourself and me, don't doubt
The love that wraps you in its arms
And cradles you from ills and harms,
And wars you wage within your mind,
My golden boy, so hard to find.
Where did you go, my first born son?
I begged you stay and watched you run
To worlds beyond your realm or scope.
I never will let go of hope
Of life for you that's calm and free,
Of nights that simply let you be.
I pray and beg with all my heart
For God to issue one more start,
And you to take his gift with grace,
Uplifting heart and mind, and face
Will turn to smiles and lose the frown.
I've tried to never let you down
But life is cruel and fate can win
So take my hand and let's begin
To heal the wounds and sooth the pain
And cherish all that may remain
To have and hold and love and share.
Stand in His light, your soul to bare.
Bathe in the warmth, and purity
Will render strength, security.

God bless the child that's got his own and God bless the child that has a mother like you.
