The Reds are straigh crushing it right now. Winners of 6 of their last 7 and 9 of their last 13 has put them in a tie for first in the NL Central. Halla! It's awesome. I love this team. It has a completely different energy than years past. No, I loved Griff, but he had to go. Same with Dunn. Those guys lack of, or inability to hustle, kept this team down. New team leaders of Bruce and Votto have an optimism and a work ethic about them that is contagious. Right now, this team thinks it can take on anyone, and they are looking good!
Winning is contagious. For years, the Reds management have been struggling to sell tickets and bring people to the ballpark. They've tried all kinds of promotional gimmicks, because frankly, Reds fans would only come to get a bobblehead so they could sell it on ebay. Blankets, fireworks, or even a Crumpler bag giveway on Mother's Day. You name it. They'd do anything to try to get you in the park. But there is a different and better strategy. Winning.
If you win, people come. Simple is that. I went down on Saturday night, and it was their first sellout since opening day. There were people coming out of the woodwork to get to that game. They had a monster walk up, and people were coming down in their work clothes just hoping they could get in the door. It was an absolute blast, and the Reds sent 'em home happy with a win over a divisional rival. You keep doing that and people won't spend their discretionary income on cheap AC/DC tickets. They'll spend money coming to the ballpark. It won't be on concerts or other venues. It will be on peanuts, hot dogs and Skyline Chili.
Go Reds! Keep it going, and lets bring some life back to this city!
