Finally around 12:20 PM, the front end of the crowd started moving, but we were still stuck back there. I was frustrated because that could have been us, if we hadn't stopped at so many spots on our way over. Eventually, we moved with the crowd. It was actually still a rather long walk to the real entrance of the White House lawn. I missed the chance to take a photo of the 2009 White House Egg Roll overhead welcome sign, but I took some pictures with the welcome bunny and eggs in the background.

Since we didn't get in until 12:45 PM, we decided to take the pictures first, and skip the egg rolling.

Even though egg rolling was the whole purpose of the trip, we decided Kyleigh wouldn't have much fun if she had to be forced to learn the rules and rushed to play. Kyleigh seemed fine with the revised plan. She saw the fountain and the tulips, and wouldn't leave.

I wanted her to have fun, so I let her decide where she wanted to go next.

We passed by the tent for the Easter Egg Cooking Lesson and saw a huge display of an interesting egg house.

Then we headed to the Express Yourself tent. I had thought we would be coloring eggs, but it turned out we were just coloring the "egg cartons".

It was a mad house because there weren't enough seats and many kids wanted to jump in (of course). The supplies were spread out everywhere and not quite enough to share. Kyleigh seemed to have fun, except when another girl grabbed her coloring pen.

I found the construction paper to make an Easter crown for Kyleigh, but there was a huge back log for the scissors to cut out the patterns. My husband stepped up and tore the patterns out by hand. Kyleigh decorated her crown with some drawings.

Then I assembled the crown and put it on Kyleigh's head. My husband would have taken the perfect picture of Kyleigh getting crowned, except for the hand that suddenly appeared in front of the camera.

Kyleigh continued to have fun drawing on the left-over construction paper from making her crown.

My husband also gathered some miscellaneous decorating materials (including a round towel cut-out), but we didn't have time to do anything with them.
