Person Ejected in Fatal Lower Burrell Crash late Wednesday night

My daughter was on her way home from work last night and saw the accident scene.  She was all shook up. The kids in this car were all seniors of Burrell High School where she went to school.

LOWER BURRELL, Pa. -- Three people were injured and a fourth is dead after a rollover crash in Lower Burrell late Wednesday.

 

WTAE Channel 4 Action News has learned that a car overturned on Wildlife Lodge Road and a person was ejected. It was not known whether that person survived.

 

Six people were inside the car at the time. It was not immediately known whether the two others inside the car were injured. Authorities continued to investigate a cause.

It is so horrible to witness a crash scene. I did as a teenager and the images are still in my head. I hope that the remaining survivors heal.

I was a broadcast journalist for many years and one of my first beats were traffic accidents. It made me much more cautious.

I think it is illegal in some states for that many teens to all be riding in the same vehicle. It is a situation conducive for loud music, yelling, joking, shoving, and speeding. In other words, accidents are far more likely in that situation than they would be with one teen driving, no passengers.

The saddest part I found out was that 3 teens were in the bed of the Ford pick up. The other 3 were in the cab. That was so illegal!!

we are not invincable. no time like the present to learn that. a pretty rotten way for your daughter to learn but sometimes a lesson like that actually drives the point home. I don't mean to sound callus for the families involved but when will we learn?

I'll pray for these and also for your daughter. What a traumatic thing to witness at such an early age. If counseling is available at her school, please encouragin her to take advantage of it.
