Who likes parades?

On April, 24th, we went to the Battle of Flowers Parade in downtown San Antonio.

We got there early, but not early enough, because it was difficult trying to find a spot to view the parade.

Anywho, we found a choice spot. The vanguard comes down the street first, followed my the parade.

We took all kinds of snacks and munchies. Alex, Natalie's best friend went with us, too!

The floats were so beautiful, as you shall see! We had a great time and we plan on attending next year! Enjoy the shots!

Growing up with a sister who was a baton twirler, I've gone to parades my entire life; sometimes as many as three or four in one weekend...over one hundred a year around the region where I lived including at least a dozen in my own town. It's always stuck with me and I enjoy the excitement of the people watching and marching. One of these days, I have to get back down to New York City to see the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I'd look forward to that even more than the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California for the New Year.

It's a great parade, Jan, but the Fiesta Flambeau, which is the night parade that takes place the following day, is even more exciting!!!

sounds great! We've only taken the kids to one parade - Christmas 2007. the crowds are so obnoxious and parking is so difficult where we live....

I enjoyed this parade, Janie. The floats and outfits are amazing! There's so much color and detail and I can only imagine how much work went into all of it.

I enjoy parades. I watched a parade from my car last summer. I was on my way to my friends' house but couldn't get there because the streets I take to get there were on the parade route.

I haven't seen a parade in ages. OMG! I really can't remember the last one I saw in person. I have seen a few on TV but that's it. When I was a little girl, I remember going to one where the Beatles (before they got too popular) were on a float singing "I want to hold your hand..." I really didn't understand the magnitude of that group at the time. My little mind just couldn't comprehend it. But for some reason that image in my mind of them sing just never left.

I enjoy parades, but haven't been to a nice one like that. Just the small town parades, which my kids love because they get lots of candy!

About ten years ago, the CEO of my firm voted me the MVP (most valuable player) of the firm. So, he had me ride a rickshaw in the New Year's Orange Bowl Parade that year on New Year's Eve. I was holding a sign with the firm's name on it the whole time. Sometimes the rickshaw would lean so far back that it seemed my back was going to hit the street, but I always held that sign proudly upward. My partner in the rickshaw was a smoking hot girl who I had never met before. I had a great time!

Last year, Maddie screamed so much during a parade that I had to take her home. The noise was too much for her.   We may try again this year, but I'm in no hurry.
