My rant for today : I love talking to pre-recorded voices when I answer the phone

I will never understand ANY company that believes they are going to sell, get their bill paid, or even get my attention when they call my house with a non human saying " This is an important call for Blah blah blah. I dont understand it. What happened to the days of calling someone and asking to speak with a certain individual?? Did someone walk up to them and say I think they would respond faster talking to an answering machine? Do any of you actually listen to the computer talking to you or do you hang up like I do as soon as I hear Mr. Roboto say hello?

I say if something is that important. Let a human call me. I think I am going to get a pre-recorded response to play that says.

"Well thank you for having your computer call me. I know that since I am not important to you that you wont mind me having my computer tell you that we dont talk to computers and answering machines. Also since you dont care enough to have a human call me, I dont care to pay that bill or buy whatever you are selling. Now if you will leave me a message in a human voice I might get back to you. Wait for the beep."

and then set that beep to wait 30 minutes before taking their message. Just a pet peeve of mine.

I hang up on them, if they can't call me personally, they aren't worth my time because I'm obviously not worth theirs!

I check the caller ID and if it's UNKNOWN with a weird phone number that's obviously not local I know that I'm "prequalified" for something and I just let it ring.

this is the way around people with their phones blocked or on the do not call list.

I hang up too, at work that is. I don't have a home phone, makes me much happier that way! LOL

Bryan the funny thing about this is I got a call yesterday I let the phone ring like 10 times before I picked up the dang phone as I picked it up I actually heard the person click the phone over to the pre-recorded voice.. I was like oh thats nice.. I wonder if they are still there listening to people yell at these pre-recorded voices...lol

my father never says hello when he answers the phone because he doesn't want to activate any computer calls

I totally agree with you. I had a robo call that was a collection company. I hung up and dialed the number back. They were looking for the wrong person! Different name, didn't even live in my town.

I hate that, too. We get one of those calls almost every month. It's really stupid. I pay the bill two days before it's due (that's the day my husband gets paid), but they almost always call the next day. They start calling BEFORE the bill is even due. And sometimes they will continue to call like a WEEK after it's already posted. It's so dumb. I never call them back. I figure eventually if they really want to talk to me, they can have an actual person call.

I have in the past called the company and then proceded to chew them out~~ now, I don't answer :>P

That is annoying, you should record that as your outgoing message; bet it cuts down on calls like that.

Yeah, I don't bother answering. I feel the same way about them not leaving messages, or saying 'Shannon, we have some information for you, call us within 24 hours' and I'm like 'Oh yeah? OR WHAT?? You'll just call back and leave another stupid message.'

What I really hate is that people think I'm a recording when they call my work. They start pushing buttons and interrrupting me saying 'operator' or 'transfer'.

GREAT IDEA! I am going to do it! That is one reason this country is in a F'd up mess! Jobs that are illeminated, and even worse, jobs that are "outsourced" to INDIA and the PHILLIPINES! Like General Motors; accepting TAX PAYER BAIL OUT to "SAVE THE "INSTITUTION", which is General Motors, to "SAVE AMERICAN JOBS", then quietly closing a couple of plants, only to move them to MEXICO!

I've even been getting those calls at work lately. It makes me crazy!
