If a wife is spending too much money, her husband is allowed to slap her, a judge in Saudi Arabia said recently during a seminar on domestic violence.
Arab News, a Saudi English-language daily newspaper, reported that judge Hamad Al-Razine said that "if a husband gives $320 to his wife and she spends $240 to purchase an abaya [the black cover that women in Saudi Arabia must wear] from a brand shop and if her husband slaps her on the face as a reaction to her action, she deserves that punishment."
The judge made this remark in an attempt to explain the rise in domestic violence in Saudi Arabia.
He also added that "women's indecent behavior and use of offensive words against their husbands were some of the reasons for domestic violence in the country."
Saudi women's rights activist Wajeha Al-Huwaider said "this is how men in Saudi Arabia see women... It's not something they read in a book or learned from a friend. They've been raised to see women this way, that they're less than a person."
What a society!?!

One problem with his plan - I will defend myself and I don't believe in religion.
It comes down to asking yourself one question. How would I wish to be treated? Then apply the answer.
I do agree with Donald that we need to work on ourselves before we show such disdain for other practices. We still have far too much domestic violence within our so called modern society.

I should think that the common Christian marriage vows would mean that a husband who abuses his wife would suffer greater punishment than a stranger doing the same thing to her. But the reverse is true. Even though he is violating an oath before God and the community, he is allowed considerable latitude.
Good answer Norene! One of my mom's aunts did this, her husband never touched her again!
"Nothing a frying pan wont cure!" This one is briliant too!
Yes, because striking a potentially fatal blow with a heavy metal object is an equal response to a slap.
The Muslim religion is illegitimate and corrupt; this story is further proof. God did not command us to strike our women, but to cherish them.
Eph 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body.
Just how pure, moral, and better Christian religion is compared to Islam:
Catholic Church in Ireland: Supporting Rapists since the 1930s
Stephen, the Christian religion is just great... the Catholic priests raping and molesting children for decades and the church protecting them are just one example of how "better" they are than the Muslims...
If you can find a verse in the Bible that says it's okay to molest young boys, let me know. Meanwhile, the Quran does promote the physical abuse of women in Sura 4:34. Therefore, what Judge Hamad Al-Razine says is perfectly CONSISTENT with the practice of Islam. When a priest molests a boy, he is violating God's law.
Matthew 18:6 says, "But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea."
Colossians 3:18-21 says,
"Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged."
I'm sure you will now protest the word "submit" where it appears in these verses. Please complete your research before doing so.
"When a priest molests a boy, he is violating God's law."
Why do the Catholic Church and the Vatican protect the priests who are violating the "God's law"
I don't know. Feel free to ask them; I would not attempt to defend them even if I were Catholic.
Its sad and am wondering how do you deal with a society as this.??
