OK, so my 4 kids (ages by end of summer 13 girl,11 boy, 9 boy, 8 boy) and I decide to hit the road. We decide we're going to spend the whole summer driving back and forth across the country and maybe further...
We say ok Gather friends who'd like to meet us?
Here's your four questions:
1. Would you want to meet us? Why or why not? (No offense taken just curious)
2. Would you show us all there is fun to do around your town?
3. Would you let us stay at your house while we are in your town? Why or why not?(my kids are used to sleeping on floor, airbeds etc. at relatives houses).
4. Would you convince me to take a job in your town because you like me and/or are just confident I could get a job there faster than in my area?
OK, so sock it to me and please be honest..hypothetical for now, someday who knows?

2. I would happily show you around my town, although it is small, I would probably take you to a nearby town with more interesting things to do and see.
3. I would have to meet you first then decide.
4. Convince might be strong of a word. If you wanted to work here, and I knew of a job I would certainly help you and encourage you if that is what you wanted.
2. Maybe with company in town I could actually do some exploring myself. Hubby and I have been married just since February, 2005. He's lived here in Cincinnati all of his life (but did little exploring). And I haven't had a chance to see much here yet.
3. You probably wouldn't like staying at our house. We have 2 dogs and 2 cats, and with my fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue, I don't do as much cleaning as I once did. But I might be able to find a home where you could stay...with one of my church buddies.
4. My hubby's company is always hiring and they have great perks. Like a few weeks ago, they had their company picnic. King's Island was closed down to everyone but his company employees. The day before is when it opened for the season, and people waited in line for 4 hours for the new coaster. My son waited only 10 minutes on the day of the company picnic. The Sunday paper lists lots of jobs, and if you're in the medical field, "they" say that there are about 3800 jobs going unfilled each year just there.
hmmm there really isnt too much fun sept the parks so sure lol
yeppers
I would say yes but no one here can find a job at all ;(
Here with PIF for June
Yes I would. It's fun to meet your online friends in real life!
2. Would you show us all there is fun to do around your town?
Basically YES, with the understanding that I might give you a list and a map of things to do for a day or two if I need to work, but I love showing off my area. Oh, not much "town" in my area, that's one reason to give you a map and list so you can go down to the city for a day trip if I need to work!
3. Would you let us stay at your house while we are in your town?
In this day and age the first thought is to quote Will Smith - "Oh, hell no!"
The real answer would be - "you are welcome to come camp out for a few days".
And I do mean camp out. I live in a two-room cabin with limited water supply. You can pitch your tent if you like, or sleep up on the deck. There is a lot of wildlife where I live - elk, deer, antelope, coyotes, bears, and mountain lions - so most folks opt for up on the deck which is about 10ft above the ground. Water is a bigger issue. There is plenty for even a crowd to drink, but showering a group is another story. Best thing to do is hit the local hot spring pool every other day for a relaxing dip and then shower and shampoo afterwards.
4. Would you convince me to take a job in your town because you like me and/or are just confident I could get a job there faster than in my area?
Job? In "my town"? You gotta be kidding! :-)
Probably not going to find a job in "my" town,
but you might find one down in the city if that helps!
Not applicable to me, being in a different country, but as it's hypothetical;
1. Yes, always happy to meet new people.
2. Would be fun to share knowledgw of the place with you.
3. Yes, we love having visitors.
4. Jobs not that easy to come by here. pif
Well, I don't even know you that well on gather yet... not well enough to meet you. And I pity the person trying to get a job in my town. I can't even get a job scrubbing toilets! Hows that for a nice job market! PIF
1. I would love to meet you, because I love meeting new people and one can never have to many friends
2. I would gladly show you around town.
3. I would let you stay at my house, we always have room for a few more people!
4. I would not convince you to take a job in my town, I would however, encourage you to do what you felt was best for you and your family.
PIF
I would love to have you but really there is nothing to do here and we have no room for company.
intersting questions. I will need to think about it
The goal getters 6/4
We would love to meet you and would enjoy showing you around town a bit :-) You wouldn't want to stay with us since we have three cats, a dog and a hamster and our house is very, very small :-) PIF
Meeting new people is always interesting and fun. If you did not mind sleeping on the floor you would be more than welcome to stay at my house. Showing you around would be fun and I might even get to revisit interests that I like. As far a jobs the job market is bad everywhere but if you liked the area I would see what I could do to help you get settled. PIF
i love meeting new people...I think its cool...have a great trip...PIF
great idea
An interesting post......I always enjoy meeting new people. I live in an area with lots to do and lots to see. I would gladly let you stay with me for a few days. Not sure about the job market here but would think jobs are available.
oops, forgot PIF
Sure I wouldn't have any problem with any of that, but not sure why you would want to settle here.....This little town is rich with history, but that is it. It is history. Full of shut down steel mills, potteries and coal mines. It does have a lot to offer in the way of education in history but thngs are not good here. I stay because it is my home and no matter where you happen to be from, it is home. And nothing else can compare. I am one of the more fortunate that still has a job here but who knows for how long. Would love to show you and the kids around and share this rich history but not to live here. pif
cool i would love to meet you i am always nice to new people pif
sorry no jobs to be had around here - we live in the mountains some pretty stuff to see but not much to DO :) -stopping by to pay it forward
1. I love meeting new people
2. Not much to do here, but I'd show you around
3.I have a motorhome that sleeps 8
4. They say there are jobs to be found, but my 19 yr old can't seem to find one!
PIF
Great idea.

1. Would you want to meet us? Why or why not? (No offense taken just curious) Sure, I would love to meet you and get to know you.
2. Would you show us all there is fun to do around your town? If it's in Falls City I would show you around town.
3. Would you let us stay at your house while we are in your town? Why or why not?(my kids are used to sleeping on floor, airbeds etc. at relatives houses). Sure, We would have a house when we get moved to Texas.
4. Would you convince me to take a job in your town because you like me and/or are just confident I could get a job there faster than in my area? Sure...You would love it in Falls City Texas.
This is a neat idea. If I didn't have little ones... PIF

sounds like fun

1. Would you want to meet us? Why or why not? (No offense taken just curious) Sure, I would love to meet you and get to know you. I miss having kids around.
2. Would you show us all there is fun to do around your town? There isn't a lot to do in town, but we live on a lake and have a pontoon boat, pedal boat and jet skis. If it rains, we have games.
3. Would you let us stay at your house while we are in your town? Why or why not?(my kids are used to sleeping on floor, airbeds etc. at relatives houses). Yes. I am used to having wall-to-wall kids in sleeping bags and fold out mattresses.
4. Would you convince me to take a job in your town because you like me and/or are just confident I could get a job there faster than in my area?
Quite honestly, there is no work in this area. Michigan is one of the worst states economically.
1. Yes! of course! Because I love meeting new people and already feel like we are friends
2. I'd show you as much as I could afford to do and then point you to other activities that are great but not within my budget
3. If need be. I wouldn't hesitate but my hubby gets cranky with too many other people around - space challenges in a small home.
4. Not much work here but if you find something, come on down!
forgot to say that I am Helping Out from another PIF group
Yes for 1 and 2 if you're in NYC when I am here...
I've taken students on museum trips, so have lots of info about where to go... and I have the entertainment book - so there are coupons!
Sorry - can't let anyone stay here - there's too much stuff, no space available.
Don't know about work possiblities.

What an interesting and cool thought, to take a "Gather road trip". I like meeting new people :) PIF
that would be some kinda trip!!!!! pif
A Gather road trip would be a riot
1. Come on down! Sure I'd like to meet you and your family
2. Of course I would show you around, but only on weekends! However I could give you a nice list of places to go while I'm at work.
3. No, you can't stay at my house, we only have a small townhouse and I work during the day and my husband works at night and we need our sleep.
4. There are no jobs here either, everyone is moving out! But your welcome to try and find one if you can.
PIF
I'll be honest, I think I would not want to meet a Gather friend just because they were a Gather friend. When we travel we do try to meet up with people we have met in the past, and reconnect. PIF
It would depend if you was coming t this state and there is nothing in my town everything seems to be shutting down so no you would not want to move here. but in the fall the moutains are beautiful and we have some very pretty country areas , and there are a lo of horses around our area, but no jobs. It is very hard to find anything in this area. pif
i would love to meet you, would show you around, let you stay in our house... but i dont know if i'll convince you to have a job here, the pay here is very low.
..pif
1. I would love to meet you and the kids. What an awesome adventure that would be.
2. Showing you around would be fun. We have a small town and a city near us.
3. I would have to meet you first. My hubby is a cop so I think we might could work something out.
4. We could talk about work in my area and you could make the decision on your own.
I'm not sure about you staying here, but I would love to meet you if you head this way! And I think it would be neat to go all over the country for the summer! Great experience and fun for you and your kids!
I would love to meet you all!
My town is boring, but we have a nice pool for the kids
You are welcome to sleep here
Not much here in the way of jobs
