My husband, Jeremy, is currently taking GED classes, and I always drop him off and pick him up after class. Well, apparently, one day a few weeks ago, when I picked him up, there was a girl from his class sitting out front waiting on her ride and she saw me. So, no big deal I didn't even know about it until last week. Well, two weeks ago, on April 23, the teacher never showed up for class. I had dropped Jeremy off like normal and then left to come home. Well, when the teacher didn't show up, instead of calling me to pick him up, Jeremy got a ride home with this girl who had by chance caught a mere glimpse of me a week or so before that.
None of this is what gets me. What I really don't get is the fact that not long after Jeremy got home he told me that when she pulled up in the driveway, the girl from his class said she was just going to drop him off and run. She made a point of saying that she didn't want to come in and meet me or whatever. Her reason was that I am a big woman and she is afraid of me.
What?!? How in the world could this girl be afraid of me? She has never even met me! She has seen me one time while I was sitting in my car. What does she have to be afraid of? My size? What a crock of crap! I mean, how judgmental can you be? In all honesty, I'm not really surprised, but I'm like get real.
Does anyone really think they can make an honest judgment call about someone based on a mere glimpse of someone in a car? This just goes to show how far people will take their silly little prejudices.

Blessings and best wishes - S.
Never tell someone something they do not need to know!
Ignore the woman's comment. Those people are everywhere--unfortunately
I'd also not be happy if my husband got a ride home with such a woman. Is he going to ride with her again if necessary, or now knowing what you know, he'll call you or look for other alternatives when necessary?
What? You mean people actually judge your appearance? How dare they! Actually, I don't feel bad so much as I was stunned about it. Well, at first anyway. Then I was thinking more along the lines of how completely idiotic and irrational her supposed fear is.
You are right. People like that are everywhere.
I think now he will just call me. I let it be clear how "displeased" I was with the situation. I wasn't so much upset that he got a ride home, but that the person he rode home with was so uncaring. Actually, she hasn't been showing up much to class lately. With this being GED classes what does that tell you about her?
