First, I checked all the upstairs and downstairs closets for a pair of summer, dressy sandals, one that I could wear to weddings and garden parties, something with heels but not too high... but nothing like my usual Birkenstocks either. As expected I found nothing to wear. The husband sighs and mutters what else is new.
Then I called the Tea Ladies and say that it is time to go shopping. R and H instantly say, "Let's go." They always do.
After 6 hours of non-stop shopping, with a short lunch in between, I came home with all kinds of shoes, EIGHT pairs, of them... in all colors... but not one single pair of the off-white heeled sandals, that I really, really needed and went looking for.
But look at what my Tea Ladies talked me into buying. It's all their fault, you know...
I wore these Lite Strides yesterday while I went to get tomato plants at the nursery, they really went quite well with my matching green sweater and jeans.

These red Studio Works slides were so comfortable, I had to have them!

I needed another red pair of shoes, right? These Lite Strides fit the bill!

I don't know why I bought these 9.2.5 pair... I don't buy these styles, but R & H do.

I used to wear these type of shoes, I confess, but that was ages ago, that was when Chanel was part of my style/ look. It's kind of dated now and too uncomfortable for me. It makes me think of polka dots and big hats at the horse races. But... I bought them anyway just in case we had to go to the horse races someday?

I don't buy blue shoes either... Blue Hawaiianas... "They're Italian Duckie, get them!" Guess who's a push-over?

These are more my speed... black Lite Strides. It would go with a lot of nice things in my closet. Even to funerals and wakes.

AND these RED Mootsies Tootsies... What was I thinking???

No wonder my closets are full and I have nothing to wear.

I really like that first pair of red slides -- I have trouble, usually, wearing anything that lacks a toe thong, although I've made exceptions, and the way those are made manages to look comfortable and really cool at the same time.
You're really making me want to shoe-shop!
You're on with the hat shopping!!!
This is why I can't shop with other women when I'm looking for something for myself. I don't mind being the opinionated companion, though.
Besides, Jim gets this weird look on my face when I tell him I'm going to the store to buy one item and that I'll be back in one hour.
For some reason, he doesn't believe me.
The only one of yours I could actually wear is the second one - and you can't have too many red shoes...
I love shoes. Love them. My feet have other ideas. I can only wear flats with long vamps. I finally gave all my heels away... *sob*....
Men are such odd creatures, they don't understand shopping at all! They think you can go by a list and that's that!
But I did like the first pair - green is good :)
I do lust for Kohl's. If I could only go in one store for the rest of my life, Kohl's would be the store. (But I'd still have online access to everywhere else.) Kohl's has everything I want including kitchen plunder and the cutest flats in the whole world.
I don't know if it is because of the pointy toes and high-high heels we wore during the 50's and 60's or because of hereditary bad feet or a combination of both....but I have a very hard time buying 'comfy but stylish' shoes now....
:-)
I even wear Birkis for the gardening... in bright yellow of course, as any self-respecting duck should!
Great article...as always.

I've never seen it stated quite that way... that is too funny!
Oh my, I haven't been shoe shopping like that in AGES!!!! MOM was a shopper, so when young, I had to have a pair of shoes for every outfit I owned...
Now I have a pair of flip flops for every outfit I own....LOL
but I did just allow my brother to buy me a pair of shoes for work..that I really really wanted...but would not pay the price for them...
CARRIE from S in the C I am not.....
Oh, you are too much. The last time I went shopping for shoes was maybe two or three years ago and all I ended up with was brown leather birks.
I must say I do like the first pair you bought.
My grandson is getting married next week, the 17th, and I have yet to find a pair of shoes I like. I can't wear heels anymore, make my back hurt worse and don't want old lady shoes, should have looked around Prom time, probably had lots of siliver or gold or white that will go with anything, I bought a pair of Jessica Simpson, whoever she is, little black balerina type things, I don't know if I will slip in them they have kind of a wedge heel about an inch high, they are kind of dressy on sale cost 59.99, don't know what they were, but think I am taking them back tomorrow, I don't even have a dress yet, I am set to go, lol, take care Duckie, love your shoe show, and essay, used to love red shoes always had a pair, my Bill loved them.
