Earlier, I got a call from my co-worker asking me about Advantage flea collars. I know that she does focus groups all the time but, to my knowledge, she doesn't have a cat so I was confused as to what she was trying to find out. Well, I looked up Petco on the internet and come to find out, Advantage only has the flea/tick solution in the tubes. I gave her the number for Petco so she could ask them about it.
She also wanted to know what an annual check up at the vet costs. I told her I didn't know.
The next question she asked had me cracking up, though. She wanted to know if I knew anyone who would rent their cat to her for a couple of hours. She is willing to pay $50 to borrow a cat and put the Advantage stuff on it and get the cat a check up.
My first thought is that anyone willing to go these lengths for a focus group without consideration of the animal, I wouldn't trust with my cat. Secondly, you have to be very careful with that flea/tick treatment because too much of it can hurt the cat. Thirdly, I would never allow one of my babies to be used as a testing ground for something like this and it would upset my baby too much. He or she would think I was giving him or her away and I would never want them to think that I would give them away.
I just thought that this was such a crazy scheme to make some money and I thought you guys would be as appalled as I was.
