Planting more veggies...

Today I went out and bought 3 more long planters. Last week we planted peas, green beans and lettuce. Today the new planters got peas, green beans and spinach.

I also found cilantro and planted it with one of the tomatoes.

Yesterday, Hubby planted 2 pots with cucumber seeds. They seeds we bought are specifically for container growing. It will be interesting to see how they do. And I planted herbs: rosemary, dill, basil & parsley.

I have 3 geraniums that I “wintered over” in the house. I got those transferred into pots outside today.

My little lettuce seeds started peaking through the dirt 2 days ago! I cannot wait until everything gets growing!

Great gardening! We're getting some onion sets in and some late tulips (most were in the ground in the fall). We're expecting rain any time now. Fire danger has been high the past couple of weeks, so we need the rain. For us, it's been a fairly dry spring so far. My allergies don't mind.

I remember when we had a pea farm, which my dad also grew our veggies, like squash, okra, cucumbers (and made his own pickles, "Tiny's Homemade Pickles", and i made the labels), and alot of other stuff. I miss the old tractor and my daddy... :(

I got my cold crops in a few weeks ago, but can't plant anything frost sensitive until the end of the month.

Krystal, I miss gardening with my folks too. When we first got married, I canned EVERYTHING, made pickles, jams etc etc. Then got so busy raising a family and then bought a house with a teeny tiny yard. So trying to do SOMETHING this year! We will have stuff to eat fresh and I hope I can at least put up a few pints of tomatoes for soup nest winter.

sounds like you have been busy in the garden! We are going to plant some stuff out at my mothers house, since we rent and don't have anywhere here for a garden.
My mother and stepfather already got their garden started a few days ago and we are going to get some plants to tak eover this weekend to add to it.

My husband tilled up a spot in our back yard this week, and started putting a fence around it. We've started a few plants inside, but we don't plant outside until the middle of the month for the first stuff, and early June for the rest.

It sounds like you will have a great garden. I am running out of planters, but today I found a great terra cotta planter (looked almost new) that someone was throwing out. I of course snatched that right up, and now I am wondering what to plant in it. Flowers, tomatoes, cucumber, herbs....there are so many possibilities.

I can't wait to see pictures of your garden. It sounds like your going to have a bumper crop. :) I need to get my cukes in yet and my sugar snaps and my herbs. Then I think I've got it all in. Well that is until I think of something else. ;)
