We weren't allowed to talk with our voices at all in the class. Our class project that we needed to do was a video taped mini speech in ASL.
My teacher told me not to go any further as I didn't have the Natural body language skills necessary for a good signer as I was out of the "box". I did enjoy the class and still try to follow proficient signers to see if I could follow the conversation. We have an interpreter at our Sunday night Mass.
It is such a wonderful gift to be able to communicate and help others that need compassionate individuals navigate the hearing world.
Thanks!
