A new theme, another house party! This past February, I was tooting the horn for the website www.houseparty.com , after hosting a Velveeta Super Bowl house party at my home on Super Bowl sunday. The party turned out to be a huge success, and, I continued to sign up for hosting activities. Although I was not picked for many of the house parties I had applied for, I was notified in the beginning of April that I had indeed been chosen for a Clairol House Party. I was so excited when I got the news---and had originally planned my party for the national Clairol party day of May 2nd. Yet, due to complications with a few of my guests' schedules, I had to re-schedule the party for this Saturday, May 9th.
Getting ready for a house party is a lot of leg work, and, this week has been no exception. Aside from making sure that my home was ready for such an occasion, I had last minute things to shop for---from what type of food to serve to picking out the door prize, first prize, and more. And there is more work to be done: getting the food ready for guests; assembling goody bags; and, dying mine and my youngest daughter's hair before the festivities begin on Saturday.
The premise of the Clairol house party is to invite up to 10 girlfriends to come over and learn about Clairol hair coloring products. When I received the house party package, it had a box full of stuff in it for my guests: Hair spray, coupons for free hair coloring, toothpaste, razors, etc., etc. It also supplied the goody bags, which was terrific. A little bit of double-sided scotch tape and the Clairol logo pdf at the house party website helped with decorating the bags; the hard part is going to be filling the bags with all of the goodies----some provided by Clairol and the house party site and sponsors, and some provided by myself.
Since this house party is kind of labor intensive (guests will be dying their hair that day!), I decided to go with a keep-it-simple menu of finger foods: Guacamole dip & chips, cheese & crackers, and German Chocolate & Red Velvet Cupcakes to celebrate two upcoming birthdays. And, although this is mainly a girlie type of house party, I've even got small blue goody bags for the males that will be attending with their women. As you can tell, I'm very excited and can't wait for the festivities to begin this weekend.
I'm especially looking forward to my family and friend's new looks---it's great to see what a box of hair dye can do for the women who are used to a harder life than celebrities. Of course, this article is just one of two that I will be doing on the subject. I just cannot wait to show the Gather world and the House Party world just how much fun these parties can be.
