Baby and All
by Paige Warren (Wild Horse Press, 2009) is a contemporary romantic fantasy. Its heroine, Fiona, is in a desperate situation. She fell in love with Garrett, an astonishingly handsome, charming guy from her Colorado home town. Once she and Garrett began living together, though, paradise quickly turned into a nightmare. Now seven months pregnant, Fiona finds herself fleeing from Garrett, heading for a new home in Texas. A car accident derails her plans.
Enter Aidan, the rugged cowboy who comes to Fiona's aid. Stranded in a small Texas town miles from her destination, she needs a place to stay and a chance to earn some money. Aidan offers her a part-time job with his uncle's business and a guest room at the beautiful, but lonely, ranch where he trains horses. Despite her pregnancy, Fiona quickly begins to make Aidan wonder whether he wouldn't be happier if she stayed in his bedroom.
Aidan is the perfect man. He starts off feeling protective of her, almost like a big brother, but soon develops a crush. The romance between Fiona and Aidan is delicately suggestive of great passion, but always sweet. Their whirlwind romance while she is in such a vulnerable condition is unlikely in real life, but makes for a charming romantic fantasy. The suspense of whether Garrett will return to claim his lover and his child provides just the right amount of tension to the story. The ending leaves no doubt that Aidan and Fiona will be together happily ever after.
Available as an e-book, Baby and All is a quick read. It's perfect for a romantic reader to finish off in a relaxing afternoon with a cup of tea or two beside the laptop.
