Anyone who has ever participated in a book club -- and especially those who failed to read the book -- will find this all-too familiar. Funny or Die (the video-comedy site from Will Ferrell, et al) posted this spoof of an all-male book club "discussing" The DaVinci Code.
"Did you notice," asks one club member, "how much Dan Brown uses the word 'because'?"

Also, does anyone care that Dan Brown's got a new book coming out in September?

funny stuff, Chris. I liked Ferrell in Blades of Glory. As for Dan Brown, I think DaVinci Code is a fast read, but somewhat goofy in the final analysis. So I am not that excited about his September release new novel. Stephen King is supposed to also have a September release, a massive tome in which he attempts to return to the writing level of The Stand. I am more likely to give that one a try- but I will read the reviews first even so.
I moderate a couple of book groups. There are a couple of guys who stop by every so often, but let's face it, guys do not generally want to sit down with friends and talk about a book they have read. I do, but I am a librarian so most people would not consider me a "guy".
I think Dan Brown and JK Rowling should both just retire. There's no way they can ever top "Da Vinci Code" or "Harry Potter" so just take the money, buy a tropical island, and enjoy life. Otherwise it ends up being like when a boxer like Mike Tyson tries to make a comeback and gets pummelled. As Kenny Rogers said, you got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, know when to walk away, and know when to run. Besides, I don't need his crappy book taking attention away when I'm trying to promote mine.
"I don't need his crappy book taking attention away when I'm trying to promote mine." Ah, the truth feels so good, doesn't it, Paul?
