I wish I could visit with you this Mother's Day,
but you know I will call you in Germany.
I wish I could share the sweet scent of my garden rose with you.

It's always so good to hear your voice
and know
here is the one person in the world I can trust to have my best interests at heart.
I can see you sitting there in your favorite chair, feet propped up, table turned; so you can reach for your glasses, your tea, the cross word puzzle to keep your mind sharp and the daily paper so you know what's going on. The remote and the TV guide always within reach.
You'll doze off before the movie ends and you'll hate that you missed the ending. You'll search the TV guide to find something entertaining wishing you had more choices and wondering why with all those channels there's really nothing on TV.
I hope you will like this year's flower bouquet I sent you. I remember how much you admired the orchids I sent one year. This year they had a bouquet of orchids mixed with roses and I thought it would be perfect for you. I added in some of your favorite Lindt chocolate truffles, because I know you can't go shopping like you used to.
I imagine you will place the flowers in your favorite green Murano glass vase your good friend Sam brought back from Italy for you. You'll smile in remembrance and then admire the beauty of the flowers, examining each one:)
Happy Mother's Day to the best Mom in the World!

I love you and I miss you and I'm still tickled pink that we could all get together for your 80th Birthday last year.
Here are a couple of shots that you haven't seen yet from our visit last year.
At the restaurant - after your birthday dinner

Setting the coffee table at home on my Mom's 80th birthday
Your happy smile as you are looking on meant the world to me.:)

Our small family - from left to right, my half-brother, his daughter-my niece Natascha, Natascha's Mom Claudia, my Mom at the end and Richard and I in the back.
(sorry about the quality - whoever took the pic had us all as one black blob with the sunshine streaming in the window behind).

Mom -holding on tight to granddaughter Natascha - my little niece and god daughter
I'm happy that you finally had a chance to meet Richard and
to see how well you two got along.
Richard and my mom in front of the restaurant we went to one evening

One of my favorite pictures of you and I
taken in Germany around 1987
at a time when you and I had finally become best friends.
This picture sits next to my computer.

The best part of my returning to live in Germany for a few years was being close to you and getting to know the woman, Margarete - not just the Mom I used to have my teenage shout outs with.
Funny how life experiences, growing up and becoming a mom with a teenage son yourself, changes your perspective on how you see your own Mama:)
Your grandson Markus stopped by the other evening. He had to walk with a cane for a few days, because he hurt his back. You'll never guess how:)
He decided to ride the scooter chair (don't ask-it belongs to a friend) to go crabbing since he could never find a free parking space near the pier.
He was lucky and caught a nice mess of blue crabs. On the way back he took the curb with too much gusto and tipped over the chair, he hurt his back trying to get away from the live crab who grabbed him where it hurts the most. LOL:)
Happy Mother's Day from your grandson Markus

Happy Mother's Day from sunny Florida to the best Mom in the world!
I'll be calling you, Mama
Since blue is your favorite color I thought I'd include one last picture from my garden for you.
Mystic Blue Salvia

I love you, Mom!

That painting of the windmill in your mother's home looks like something that could be found in any of my relatives' homes.
I'm glad you get to say you are best friends!
Thanks guys - I think my mom will like it and she'll laugh about Markus antics.:)
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Thank you all for your nice comments - I wish she had Internet, but alas a print out will have to do:)
