"A mother's love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity, it dares all things and crushes down remorselessly all that stands in its path."
~ Agatha Christie
In 1968, there was no doubt that my mother loved me. It's written all over her face in the photo below. My mom is also a big fan of Agatha Christie novels and as such, I thought the quote was fitting.

During my yongest years, we lived in Seattle, Wa. In 1969 we were still living in Seattle.

We spent some time in Boston, Mass. for awhile too. By 1972, I was four years old in the photo below. This was taken at my childood home in Dallas, Pa. It's the only home I remember.

My parents vacationing in Bermuda in 1974.

My mother divorced and remarried in 1985. This was taken on her & Bill's (my step father) wedding day.

At my wedding that was in Dallas, Pa in 1998

Mom, myself & Bill in 1997 or 1998 at a Penn State Game.

More from Surfside Beach in 2002.

Hanging out near Barefoot Landing in 2002.

Seeing Jimmy Buffet in concert in 2005.

In March of 2009, I was photographing the Surfside Beach house. I caught mom in one of the shots. Not sure what she was looking at posted on the fridge.

Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.

Thanks for holding onto my heart, Mom and Happy Mother's Day!
Note: Most of my photos from my younger and teen years are in storage somewhere with my parents. The images included in this essay were mostly scans and digital photos taken of hard copy photos that I had here with me in Georgia. So the quality is pretty poor. I really didn't start to have a full digital photo library until 2004.

A beautiful essay for a beautiful Mom.
I remember you saying, once, that you where adopted.
It looks like that choice worked out really well.
I wish I had a bunch of photos of my mom, but most are at my parents' house.
Spicecomments.com - Hi Hey Hello Comments
I envy all who still have their Mom. God Bless
Great essay!!
Congratulations!
I really enjoyed this tribute.
I knew you were adopted but you do really favor your mother.....you know they say if you are around someone long enough you begin to look like them!!!!!!
Btw, those are some cool 'specs' in the second picture.......I had a pair that looked just like them!!!!!! LOL
