Anthony has been doing community service for the past 6 months to go. He had to do 50 hours of community service just to qualify for the trip. He volunteered at the humane society, elderly villages and many others places in town. He has also worked at Sonic every weekend for the past 2 months for tips to pay for the expenses related to his trip!
I am so proud of him. He paid for 100% of his trip all by himself:)
Tonight at this meeting we picked up the Itinerary and flight information. We also got his packpack and t-shirt for the trip.

front of shirt Back of shirt
I will post picks of the backpack when he returns cuz it has the organizations name on it.
He leaves at 2am next tuesday.
He is so excited he cant stop talking about it:)
He already has his suitcase packed..lol
I know he is gonna have an awesome time but i am gonna miss him like crazy when he goes. I am letting him take my camera so there should be lots of pics of his trip. We found out today that they get to tour the white house during thier stay in DC. Now how fun is that..

Tell him to research why the Washington Monument is so plain, and why it has a different shade of stone on the lower part than the upper part.
Earning his own way will make this trip even more special for him. You're doing a fine job, raising such an industrious young man! Be proud!
great job,,, my dad is in his 80's and went for a Vet's Day with his army buddies last week and he is still talking about it....
I know he will love that trip. :)
If his itinerary includes Amish country, ask him to try the Shoo Fly pie. More than 20 years later, I am still trying to find a good recipe to make it at home:)
I'm a bit upset, as I've not yet heard from him....I'm assuming that they all are in Rome, Italy tonight...no phone call, no e-mail....oh well, I guess no news is good news.....LOL!!!!!
Hope your son will have a fun time.
he'll enjoy it a lot more too........
thanks.........
He'll enjoy it a lot more too, as he worked very hard to pay for it. What a great goal and he made it!!!!
This will also look good when it comes time for him to apply to colleges in a few years.
Tammy, The school has so many requirements to go on this trip. They had to have A's and B's all year, not missed more than 3 days of school all year. no office referrals, 50 hours of community service , and lots more. they tell them at the beginning of the year and inform them of all they have to do.
This has been the first trip any of my kids have taken that required community service. But this trip has cost alot more too, total was more than $1500.
He is very intelligent and persevering to put such effort toward a trip. Most kids wouldn't do this! What strength he has.. Very strong man! Not young man.. Man! He is very mature!
