Sunday was the most beautiful day here in South Carolina so far this year. The sun was out but not too hot, maybe around 80 degrees. There was a light breeze blowing and the day was perfect for exploring the woods and marsh at Hungtington Beach State Park. Usually I find allegators and lots of birds but this week it was low tide and there really wasn't much to see. No allegators and very few birds, so we took this opportunity to hike some of the trails. Pretty soon it will be way too hot to do any hiking, at least during the day. We found some very interesting sights I'd like to share.
In the woods there are lookout points where you can see the other end of the marsh. Sunday the water was covered with pollen which made a beautiful scene.

Follow the markers and see how far you can go.

We went a little past the one mile marker.

Along the way we saw some beautiful plant life.

Beautiful critters

Without the trees there would be no woods.

or Tarzan wannabes.

or places for our feathered friends to call home.

or places for Mother Nature to hang her artwork.

A pine needle formed into a circle, filled in with spider web and decorated with pollen and pieces of bug and tree life. I wish I could remove it from the tree and take it home and frame it. The photo doesn't do it justice.
Even things that are no longer alive are part of the beauty of the forrest.

So we are at the end of our hike, lets sit down and rest our feet and enjoy the seahorses at the nature center.

The next visit it should be a perfect day for walking down to the ocean and taking a swim. See you there.
