* A Gather Experiment Update 1 *

About a week ago, I said that I thought I would try a Gather Experiment, on the hunt to figure the points.  A few expressed concern- well, helped show me how this may not work, and they were right.  There is no way to control the environment.  But I can tell you what I have to report so far- the results may not surprise some, and may sadden you.

Bottom line is that so far, there is not much you can do to "make the most of your time" that you are not doing now....It appears, so far, that having good friends, and giving them a lot to look at (while reciprocating) seems to be the way to go....

I worked mostly on videos this week, and here's what I gleaned...

Please note that the Gather people did NOT do this, and this is just me- I may (probably) have it totally wrong....

trial one:

watched and commented on 6 videos (no rating):

(during this I had 2 comments on my stuff and 4 new views)= my points went up 9

Then:

wathced/commented(no rating) 13 videos (this time there were 54 views on my stuff- thanks to all) and I had 19 points!!!

I watched 10 videos and commented(no rating) and I used those graphics saying"stopping by from..." that a group offers....this gave me 11 points

I watched 20 videos (no rating/no comment) and I got 8 points

I watched and rated 20 videos and got 8 points (interesting)

I generic commented on 40 pictures- 8 points

What little I gathered so far- do videos, use comment codes if possible, viewing may not bring you a huge number of points but viewing and rating probably WILL help others boost their points.

So far I think that videos beat out all others although people think they switch the point system around from time to time

I will do more next week...but so far I think have a great time and the points will come!
