We have a beautiful Greek orthodox church a couple of houses down the street, and today our entire street turned Greek. The church is raising funds for a new roof, and this weekend they were having their 36th annual Greek Festival. It is both a church and a community center, so they have a lot of space to do with and there were lots of guests.
I tried to postpone going until after 3 p.m., because the South Florida sun was very strong today, but at 1:30 p.m. the boys could not stand looking at the bouncy house down the street anymore.

Normally we only go to free events in our area, but since this was just down the street, my husband gave us money to go. There was a $2 entrance fee for adults, and the bouncy house and obstacle ride was $2 each. You could also buy an all-day bracelet for $10. The boys each got to buy 2 tickets, so they could have a turn on both the obstacle ride and in the bounce house.

When we got there, the parking lot was full, but it was not crowded inside. Fortunately it seemed like there were not a lot of kids there yet either, which meant the no long lines.

The boys started out at the obstacle court. When they got to the end there was a big wall and Sky was stuck. This took some team work, but with the coaching from the guy in charge of it, Roshane managed to help Sky over. It was quite a sight:)

Next it was the bounce house, and once again it was great that there were few children.

Afterward I told the boys they could have a treat and we went inside to see what kind of food they had.

There were some crafts booths, some Greek booths, and then there was a place where you could buy lots of different Greek dishes.

Nothing really appealed to the boys, so we continued outside.

Outside they were selling gyros and many different Greek dishes. We already had lunch though, so we continued our search.

We finally hit jackpot, when Roshane saw an ice cream sign. The boys never get ice cream when we are out, but today we made an exception. I figured the money went to a great purpose, and it surely was two happy boys.

We listened to the Greek band Hellenic, and Sky enjoyed some dancing.

At 3 pm. the church's dance team performed.

At this point the boys requested playtime in the pool, so we went home before the shade completely overtook the back yard.

When they were done playing, they helped water the plants.
This was done with a cup and a water spray dolphin.

This was our Greek afternoon. The boys were dancing to the Greek music, while playing in the pool, and it sure was fun to see them trying to copy the performers moves. Right now we have cars parked all over the street, and I have the feeling that the Greeks really know how to party.
How was your Saturday?
