"To gaze in wonder upon such a thing." -- a short story
I walked to the edge of the pond with my fishing pole in hand and plopped myself down next to the dead tree limb. The sun was peeping out from behind the fluffy white clouds. The earth was warm and a gentle breeze was blowing. The mosquito hawks were darting about over the water surface searching for whatever they search for. I baited my hook with a worm from my syrup bucket container and dropped the hook into the pond water and waited. My old straw fishing hat shaded my eyes for perfect viewing. All was well in my twelve year old world.
The day wore on and the sun was getting lower in the sky. My hook was still in the water and the bobber had not moved except to float around with the ripples created by the racing water bugs. It was finally time to go home. No fish.
As I pulled my fish hook out of the water it created more ripples and the sun came out from behind a cloud at the same time and struck the water at the perfect angle for creating a rainbow across the pond water. A dancing rainbow caused by the ripples from the unnibbled fish hook. It was my rainbow and I was blessed to gaze in wonder upon such a thing. All was well in my twelve year old world.

NICE POST!
A good story and one that brings back some memories from about the same age myself. I have a book started that I don't know if I will ever finish or publish along the same line. Some of it is perhaps too personal to be of interest of most folks but your story reminded me of it waiting on me to decide what to do with it.
Thanks and blessings on you.
So sweet and poignant.
I have always thought the Detroit River a beautiful stream of water. Have spent some time in Canada on the other side of the river and wished I had a fishing pole with me when gazing upon it. Crystal clear, beautiful.
*Clifford N.,
Please finish the book. You can decide later what you want to do with it.

PS: Lee, I'll do the link for you to Joy.
And how well you painted a picture that brought me right to your 12 year old, ageless beauty world!!
Again Thank You Lee!!
