The groups I once owned here are nowhere to be found

If you are away from Gather for awhile,do the groups you own vanish???I can't find any of mine.

Yes, they did a big group clean out a couple of months back. Everything by owners who hadn't logged in for quite a while or were now closed accounts (by request or by ban) got deleted or handed over to someone else who wanted to run it.
