Went to Subway today and I go there quite often and I use to work at this local Subway in our small town. I order three sub sandwiches; one in which I'm buying for my father, one for myself, and one to save for later. I received extra money today on my children and thought I'd splurge a little.
There were three workers working; one, an older lady in which I always see working and she tends to "always walk away" from the person fixing the sandwiches, not seeming to care, and two younger workers.
Let's say #1 young person is the "average friendly" person, but doesn't go out of her way and can be rude at times. And, we have the other younger one, in which is very friendly and goes out of her way.
Let me give you an example:
She is fixing my two subs, asked me what kind of cheese I'd like and I tell her a different type of cheese. She seems frustrated with fixing two subs ALL by herself when I ask for a different cheese (keep in mind, she is frustrated because, she is fixing TWO foot long subs by herself!), and all other workers are just STANDING around, even the older woman, not even helping her!
She continues to fix my subs and is trying to hurry. I could just see she felt rushed and she slided my subs (did everything right, toasted, everything), slided them down on the sanitary paper and asked what veggies I liked. Finally, the older woman comes over (Oh Gosh, when I go in, I just hate to see her face! No offense! And I try to be friendly to everyone!), so anyway, the older woman comes over, acting all helpful and put veggies on the first sub and she is behind her (looking like a newbie they're taking advantage of) and starts putting veggies on my 2nd sub.
The older lady walks away once again! The younger worker #2 (nice one) still tending to my subs and I ask for "extra mayonaise"... She is once again frustrated and walks back to the back to get me some extra mayonaise. I could just feel her pain because when I worked for Subway, the same thing would happen to me, and I was left doing EVERYTHING on my own and it was sad that workers manipulate and would always want me to do the dishes (even though, I loved doing the dishes), but anyway, going on, she goes back to the back to get mayonaise and the young worker #1 yells "There is mayonaise up here! Hey, there is maonaise up here!!" ... I stand there, watching her as she goes and gets me "Fresh mayonaise" and squirts ALOT (more than I probably wanted, but that's okay) on my sandwiches and I have a big smile on my face. I am thinking "WOW. She is good!"... The young worker #1 rings up my order and I ask her "How many double chocolate chip cookies do you have?" She looks frustrated and says "Nine." I ask for 6 double chocolate chip cookies and she rings up my order and walks away. The young worker #2 continues to WRAP my sandwiches up, putting them in a BAG and does it ALL ALONE! She thinks I'm rushed (well , my dad was waiting to go to work, but she goes pretty fast at it), and I was frustrated with the other two workers because keep in mind, one, the older lady, I know and believe, I worked with her and she HAS always been "attitude, thinking she is better than everyone else, acts like she cares when she don't and her daughter is the same way when previously working with me."
Keep in mind, I have went to this Subway getting subs for my oldest child, Gracee and this older woman would NEVER wait on me and would just walk away, acting like she didn't see me. So, this is what I did.... I knew this worker was being taken advantage of!
When both of the other workers looked away after she bagged my subs up, I had two dollars in my hand, folded, and she handed me my subs and I handed her two dollars. She said,
"What is this for?!?!"
I told her,
"It is a tip."
"Oh, you are such a sweetheart. Thank you!!!"
"You're welcome.,"
and I walked away with all three subs and my cookies.
Now keep in mind, I was VERY thankful that she fixed my subs and did well. She went OUT OF HER WAY to get mayonaise, and had to do it ALL ALONE mise well say, and just hearing her say "Thank you" made me know that I chose the right person for my day to give back to... She was very nice and she deserved, I know it isn't much, but the two dollars I gave her. She was just great and when I go back, I should say "I'd like her to fix my child's sub!" LOL!
What a great day I had at Subway! It describes today's world at a glance!

NOT
Today I shopped at Meijer's and Kroger for groceries and I bought my girlfriend a cross necklace at Noah's Cove Christian bookstore :)
Great minds think alike huh. Great story
And, oddly enough, they always run out of white bread. I mean, come on. White bread is the most popular thing there, I wonder why they just don't order extra and cut down on the other breads.
Anywho, I'm always thankful for my sandwich afterward because that lone person does such a great job.
Since I’m in the middle of Finals week, I hate to admit, but I must give in to the temptation of leaving a generic comment
But to give it a little personal touch, I added some artwork for you to enjoy!
