Moms or Moms to be, did you see the "Tummy Tub" on the Today show this morning?

This was cracking me up.  I can't picture my very active son being crammed into one of these, though it would help with my sky-high water bill ;)

"The Tummy Tub, an infant’s bath that looks like a see-through cross between a bucket and a flowerpot, is used to simulate a womblike environment for infants."

Don't just go out and buy a bucket, the seller warns.  Hmmm...I went to the website, and the tub itself is $50, or you can buy the kit with the stand for $89.  Not for me!

I did get a kick out of seeing all the cute babies.

I saw that this morning and part of the fun of being in water as a child was kicking and splashing. The tub seemed just too confining to me, and also, babies that size are going to be growing by leaps and bounds, and will quickly outgrow these.

If I may be so bold, why do we buy all this crap? What' wrong with just the kitchen sink, like we were washed when we were babies? I just got in the tub with my kids and nursed them while I gave them baths - no screaming! :-)

OMG - $50 seems like a lot for a "not just a bucket" that the baby is going to be too big for within a few weeks. Seems kind of neat - and crazy adorable with all those babies in the "not buckets"!! If someone gave me one, I'd use it. But, I'm with Rachel - nothin' wrong with the sink or the arms of a mama in a regulation bath tub. Sometimes, less is more.

I agree with the commenter who said that half the fun of bathtime is the chance to splash and play! My daughter was thrilled when we moved her from the sink to the tub and she had room to move around. No way would I spend the money to buy one of these!

Um...I'm not sure I like it. How can you actually bathe the baby while they're all crammed in there? Most of those babies looked older and past the point of wanting to be "swaddled" or feeling like they're still in the womb.

While I would definitely try it out if I received it as a gift, I would never spend that kind of money on it. I used a regular infant tub, and never had any problems with bathtime.

hmmmm...lol looks like I could use the kitchen sink for free lol...I think I am just going to stick to addign a nomal baby bath tub to my registry!

I saw a similar product a while back that was really cute, but also way too expensive like this one. I wonder if they discourage a bucket because then they wouldn't be making the money. Sounds about right!

I think Jay Leno showed one of those briefly on the Tonight Show, and of course cracked some jokes about it. It's an interesting idea!
