The hapless bumbling of the Republican National Committee continues.
In this week's edition, the Republican leadership (including, of course, Rush Loosebowels and Glen Dreck) announced a "Republican Re-Branding National Tour".
The "Re-Branding" features such "new voices" as John McCain, to whom new voters were hostile in the last election, and Mitt Romney, who polls have shown has the incredible distinction of being a politician more disliked the better recognized he becomes.
Haley Barbour, corrupt fund-raiser from the era of Bush I, and Bobby "Piyush" Jindal, bumbling liar from the state of Louisiana, are also featured in this effort.
The "Re-branding" announcement proved to be another milestone in a long train of desperate actions by Republicans. Recognizing belatedly that the "Republican" brand is despised, and likely to continue to fade, the Republican National Committee has announced an initiative without any clear objectives or message.
It isn't going to work, and Republicans seem helpless to understand why.
( Republican leaders still do not comprehend why the miscellaneous crackpots assembling in "Tea Parties" did not generate a national movement.)
Clue to the RNC: "Small Government" and "Less Government Debt" is not a plan. These "fundamentals" of Republican faith are not perceived as a plan for national action.
It is true that many citizens would like to see more detailed debate on the National Recovery Plan of the Obama administration, but the voters are also rightfully suspiscious of party hacks yelling slogans instead of providing alternatives.
As confirmation of the cluelessness of those promoting this "new" endeavor, the RNC announced yesterday that the first event will be held in Arliongton, Virginia - within the beltway, within the original boundaries of the District of Columbia, a place that has become reliably Democratic as the RNC continues to be defined by the angry white men from the Old Confederacy.

I love that they just keep regurgitating the same crud and expect to get different results. It's just like their campaigns and other strategies.
Exactly, Sharon
(I am now in a regional airport waiting for the traffic delay into New York City to abate.)
I would like South Carolina and Alaska to renounce all federal money and would welcome Texas egressing as long as it took Oklahoma with it.
I have seen this claim on christo-fascist websites, I did not know that the outrageous claim was made by christo-fascists in the House.
This offers rich possibilities, Stephen.
I would gladly join the "Let Texas Go (to Hell)" movement, as long as Kathleen and Stephanie and Lydia and Marilee were going to be okay.
And that is the problem. Until the RNC changes from being a porcupine, darn few people are going to cuddle up with them.
Nice way to phrase this, Bill's Spirit.
This is now factual and entirely correct. Politico released a RNC poll demonstrating that Republicans could rely only on states from the Old Confederacy, and not all of them.
Well for the sake of discussion:
Everything repugnicons say is god given fact and all others are fascist socialist Muslim loving commies.
Long live rich white men;-)
There's a great bit in a recent New Yorker re: Succession of Texas. It's gaining nationwide support. For me, the best thing would be that as foreign nationals they would no longer be eligible to run for president.
If only you could replace your dreadful senators, Sarah!
I am amazed that no one from within the GOP can effect any changes, Ron.
Do they want to become an irrelevant regional party?
I see that you have spotted an alarming trend (teabagging to branding), Aniko.
Thanks for reminding me that Marilee will not become a "foreigner".
I read about this, Mr. Wimsey, and how the Republicans won't rally around this cause either.
Is the re-branding over?
The early rallies related to this "re-branding" were criticized and judged harshly by fellow-Republicans.
I believe that the schedule has been abandoned, but I will check.
Creating A Conservative Candidate Platform For The Next Election!
No person’s insistence of an idea makes it engaging until it meets with some approval and scrutiny of their peers. This discussion is an attempt to form an organization that can develop a plan with merit that without doubt, each issue has a in-depth discussion to seek the middle and the importance of this requires professionals in each area of expertise to validate the thought process, through their professional opinion or scrutiny with a description of that opinion or scrutiny. Adding additional nuances that improve on the original intent is commendable. This attempt to build an organization is to help insure like-minded people who are willing to become part of this organizational team, will have a venue to help further the agenda , which will design a complete platform for any conservative candidate, that we can all support.
This is a format for in depth consideration of collective ideas and not for complaints from opposing party affiliations about the issues being discussed in this forum. To start the discussion I have provided eleven issues, which is not to say that there are not more, it just means I have put together 11-and would like to begin the discussion there, one issue at a time and see where it leads. Due to the length of the material it must be placed in blog format. If you would like to contribute, you can do so on the blog or, in the LinkedIn format. But each time you contribute, define the topic and then contribute with your opinion.
The eleven issues are:
1. Political:
2. Economics
3. Legal
4. Accounting
5. Military
6. Medical
7. Social economic
8. Scientific
9. Education
10. Movement Planning
11. Productivity
