Sometimes you just get lucky. Florida has a lot of waterbirds, but so far I've never had much luck trying to get a decent shot, except for a couple at the beach now and then.
In fact, if Richard hadn't pointed out the egret in the water, I wouldn't even have noticed him, he was moving without making a sound, just an occasional ripple in the water.
I couldn't have asked for a lovelier setting including purple water lilies:)
Mirror Image

He's discovered something ...
... almost posing for me
Now he's on the move again ... so graceful
Fascinating to watch - an elegant predator:)

Here he is scouting for fish ...
Getting ready to strike ...
I followed him around the bend ...

It was a rush to shoot these photos.
Like an adventure trip into nature or like stepping into a live scene from National Geographic - a cool experience.
He's a beauty - grace in motion.
There's a couple extra pics tucked away in the strip below, if you are interested.
Thank you for coming along, I hope you have enjoyed my birdwatching photos as much as I did - by the way -
if you want to see him actually catch a fish
Have a great weekend everyone!

We had one of those smaller white birds with the very pointy and long beak in our back yard yesterday. The boys were both fascinated and a bit frightened I think.
Thank you for posting your photo at Pretty Pictures.
my group
Nana - not in my wildest dreams would I have thought of ever getting a shot of him with a fish in his mouth. I just kept clicking away. He was so fast I never actually saw him catch or eat the fish, but somehow I managed to get it on camera:)
Marianne - no kidding, I've seen these everywhere but no way to get a shot before they fly away.
Blessings and best wishes - S.
Every shot a masterpiece!
You really did a fabulous job capturing a wonderful place. You made me want to visit, which is exactly what your words and pictures should do. I loved all three articles, and I'm really glad I got to see them!
