Last tuesday evening (4-21-09) hubby decided we should go mushroom hunting. So we got ready and headed to a nearby lake/park. Maddie was so excited to go and grabbed her little plastic shovel to take along.
We didn't stay long as it was evening and we knew it would be dark soon, but we started off on a trail and started searching. It was quite muddy and wet so we thought it would be perfect conditions for finding some mushrooms.
After about 30min we still had found none and started our way back towards the van. Then all of a sudden hubby spotted something. There was a mushroom! We got excited and started looking all over the area since where there is one there are usually several. But to our disappointment that was the only one we found. So after about an hour of looking in all and a nice walk thru the woods we headed home.
Here are a few photos of our little adventure!

This past weekend while at my mother and stepfathers farm we found TONS of morels out on their property and so we fried up the yummy mushrooms to eat with our ribs and pulled pork that hubby and my stepfather cooked on the smoker!

THe only ones we were in search of were morels. That is the only ones we would have picked because we know they are safe and very good to eat!
I was laughing at the caption of your photo, "The mushroom."
Looks like a fun day for your daughter.
I am with you Jodie, I LOVE asparugus and owuld love to be able to find some growing, a probably 4 weeks ago we drove by where we used to live next to my grandmothers old house, since it used to grow wild along the fence between our homes, but there was none, it might have been a little early at the time for it. It is about out of season again now.
