A recent Pew survey reveals that, while people who identify themselves as Republicans has dropped nearly a third from 2004, self identified Democrats have risen only 2% during the same period. Since the November elections both parties have seen a steep decline.

This could be interpreted two ways:
- Both parties are a bunch of losers and the American people are running away from them as fast as possible.
- People are beginning to think for themselves and will vote based on issues and the integrity of individual candidates rather than blind party loyalty.
Let’s hope it’s #2.

Dogged party loyalism is a trap. The ideology, plans and policy views of political parties always change according to who the current leaders are.
To not vote one's own mind has just always seemed like a dangerous lazy behavior.
4. As more states opt for open or consolidated primaries, there's no particular reason that voters in those states need to register with a party, since they (we) can vote in the primaries as an Independent.
I paid for an ad thanking Larry Craig (R) Idaho, for getting a gov agency in gear. I would campaign for this man if he ran again.
I prefer Craig to represent Idaho over Democrat Walt Minnick.
I am glad for the third party independents, keeps the other two parties from straying.
Good points!
