My husband and I have a little vice. It is called the Seminole Hard Rock Casino. Located here in Tampa, it is only about a 20 minute drive for us.
We are both Platinum Players Club members. (which means we play a lot...LOL) For those who are not familiar with a casino's Players Club cards, let me take a moment to explain. You have a card that is the size of a credit card. In the slot machines there is a slot that you insert your card in. The computer recognizes you and gives you points during your slot game. These points can be saved and redeemed for gifts, use them to purchase items in the gift shop, use them to buy food in the restaurant use them for the spa or to get a hotel room. Each month, we receive coupons from the casino. Free meals, free property credit (for the gift shops or restaurants), free entries to the current giveaways, etc. And my favorite is the Autoload Free Play, in other words, FREE MONEY to gamble with!
Ever so often we get an extra coupon for Mystery Autoload Free Play up to $1000. You have no idea how much it will be until you load your card into a machine and put in your pin number. I have never gotten a whole bunch, but once I got $65. You can not cash out this money, you have to play it. I can be divided into $5 increments so you can play several different machines, if you choose.
Well, today was one of those Mystery Free Play days. I also had $30 in property credit. So this morning, early, before it got real busy, Ed and I headed to the Hard Rock.
We had a steak and egg breakfast with home fries, toast and coffee for $5.99 each. We used my property credit, so all we owed was the tip.
We used the remainder of my property credit and along with some points from Ed's Players Club card, we got a 3 CD disc set of the hits from the 60's, 70's and 80's. All FREE!!
Then we hit the floor! I had $45 in free play. So I set out to WIN! Every machine I played was HOT!! Here is the result:

That is great!
CONGRATS THOUGH!
I was concerned when my 18 yo daughter wanted to go to what is called a "casino" in Montana. It is attached to the Town Pump Gas Station if that tells you. She started with $2. Played about 15 minutes and left with $5. Done. Had her fun because she could.

Way to go on your awesome win!
We have a Seminole Hard Rock Casino up the street, but fortunately my husband and I are not gamblers, otherwise we would probably be broke.
Yes, Jeff, if I take that money that I gamble with (less than a carton of cigs) and invest it, I would have a nice investment. But I already invest in my 401K and my IRA, so I see nothing wrong with having me having fun a few times a month with my "mad money."
BTW, last year, my hubby took $20 to the casino and came home with a $7500 jackpot.
When I did my taxes this year, I was actually ahead on my winnings about $600. Not that that really matters to anyone but me.
If you don't like to gamble, that's fine, but I do. Don't begrudge my excitement.
