There probably was, a long time ago, and they have moved on. There may well be life in a form other than what we would recognise as life, bacteria is life too!

I think it would be arrogant and presumptuous for us to just 'assume' that we were the only 'intelligent' life and none existed anywhere else, I'm sure I couldn't say with any certainty

Yes, I do believe that there is life out there... Intelligence? Who knows. I also do not believe that in order for a planet to contain life it needs to be like Earth.

I was watching some nature special, and there are life forms in our waters that should not be there by all reasoning. The enviroment for these life forms is amazingly hostile. The tempature and acidity alone would kill any other life forms.

I cannot remember what they were called, but if these creatures can exist and thrive in such an enviroment, then who is to say that a planet needs Earth like conditions to bring about life?

I personally believe there is a big chance for life on other planets and my husband and I have gotten into big discussions about this and other things to do with the solar system, etc...

Yes but not just on some planets but all planets, maybe even on stars. Life is not an oddity but a necessary element of the whole universal process. But life is not restricted to carbon cycle life as we know it.

If plants are pervasive enough to grow out of the cracks on well traveled roadways, then life is pervasive enough to be on other planets, in some form or other.

Yes, I do believe there is. Maybe not human life but life in tehe form of another being is possible or plant......I do believe there is life on other planets.

I suspect that if we can exist and be here, others or another can also exist and be somewhere else, I don't feel that I'm something so perfect I couldn't possibly have competition in the universe

If here on Earth why not on other planets... to add just because we need air does not mean other forms of life do...
