Carl Edwards Big Crash At Talladega Video

For those interested here is the big crash at this weekends race at Talladega. I was sitting slightly to the right of where the crash began so I got a closeup view( I was only 5 rows back) The video shows the lap leading up to the crash and several different camera angles plus the in car cameras view of the crash from some of the other drivers and Carl Edward's car.

It was quite a site to see live.

Although the announcer says he did not see any debris go into the crowd you can actually see the catch fence do its job as far as keeping the car out of the crowd but you can see some large debris go into the crowd.

I heard about this on the news. I avoid stuff like this as I always am afraid I will get hurt. I am glad you didn't get hurt. It must have been a shock to everyone.

Not really Heather. At Talladega you always expect to see "the big one" it usually involves more cars then this though. I am just glad Edwards and everyone else was ok.

I watched it on YouTube yesterday, and was very thankful that everyone is ok. A car can be fixed or replaced....lives can't....he took a gamble on the move to block and it cost him but he ran across the finish line to a standing ovation. This is a reminder how everyone needs to keep on top of keeping not only the drivers but also the fans safe.
had that safety fence not been there it would ahve been a lot more disastorous.

It is funny you mention that Janet. I was just saying to my husband that the view on tv did not look bad compared to the view of it we saw. I was suprised when I first watched it because I thought to myself it didn't look bad from the video.

I was watching this at work and my mouth just dropped open. It was one major crash. I'm glad everone was okay and it just goes to show that all the saftey measures they have done to the car really work.
