Well... our kitchen for the weekend anyways!
I went camping with the Venture scouts this past weekend. They are the older scouts... 14 and over... and it's a co-ed group. We had a lot of fun. They were qualifying on their Ranger requirements (shooting sports) and we were able to take advantage of some WONDERFUL sunshine by going swimming in the lake.
Since we decided to camp at a campsite instead of backpacking in, we were able to bring my favorite kitchen pots and pans.... a large cast iron skillet and a dutch oven!!

We try to keep the meals pretty simple and leave as little impact on the earth as possible. The site we selected didn't have a fire ring so we had to go a bit primitive. Here is where we dug a pit in the sandiest part of the clearing and built the fire inside. When we were done, we burned all of the wood to ash, let it cool, doused it with our leftover water (just in case!), then reburied the area.

I do a lot of cooking over the fire as a reenactor. I assure you most of them aren't very tasty!
