Most of you know we are going through In Vitro. Here are my original articles if you would like to read them:
We are starting In-Vitro Fertilization!
Almost done with our In-Vitro cycle.
The Embryo Transfer is in 1 hour!
Sunday was our transfer. Out of the 10 fertilized eggs they had, only 6 became blastocysts. They transferred 2 of those. A blastocyst is an embryo which has developed to the point of having 2 different cell components and a fluid cavity. Human embryos, in culture in an IVF lab, or developing naturally in the female body, usually reach the blastocyst stage by day 5 after fertilization. Blastocyst transfer with IVF can give high pregnancy success rates with very low risk of triplets.
So...if it works, and the "babies" stick to her unterine wall then she is 7 days pregnant today (she got to skip the first 5 days, that was done in the lab!). We will find out in 2 weeks if it worked. Here are our 2 blastocysts:

And here is our surrogate's gorgeous uterus with the 2 blastocysts inside! The little white dot in the sea of black.
I think these pictures are absolutely fascinating. To think that tiny little spot may turn into a baby! Or babies!
